First off, don't be bust'n my chops: I picked this one up cheap on an impulse buy. I already know these are really low end . . . This was a real POS when I first got it. But after replacing the firing pin & spring and re-assembling the trigger assembly correctly, it seems usable.

My last remaining issue is ejecting the empties. It's really difficult to use the ejector rod. On a couple of the cylinders, I have to pop out the empties starting with a screw driver blade. When I inspected it, the forward part of some of the cylinders seem like they has some roughness to them.

What do folks think: does it just need a good cleaning, or something more substantial?

Thanks in advance,

Larry

Id start with a good cleaning but you may need to polish each of the chambers in the cylinder.

I'm envious; been wanting an RG23 (really).

Sounds like some of the same problems I had with a vintage Charter Arms Pathfinder that I bought several months ago. Took quite a bit of cleaning to get rid of lube that had hardened over the years.

No wirries Some of us appreciate the fun of futzing with less than primo firearms,

If you were having the same issues with a Korth, it would be distressing. But with-a Rhom , interesting, and entertaining.

Heres my Rohm RG 10. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...E4mzdNT6pX5CeF

As a youngster back in the 50's, I remember the RG's being very common, especially the RG10's and similar.

I have read that the later 23's were/are pretty good little guns for occasional shooting.

I also have read that there are people who even collect them.

There are much better guns available, but the little RG's are kinda interesting.

I polished up the chambers with a brass bore brush, an electric drill, and a couple types of solvent. They don't seem to have the same roughness I noticed previously. I'll post back here after my next time out.

Got back from the range earlier today. The pistol still extracts somewhat stiffly, but at least it ejects now.

Thanks for the help!
