I tried the 25 yarder. Couldn't tell which holes went with which bulls-eyes.

I did manage to actually get a few (very few) on target. Or perhaps I missed so bad that I hit a different bull than the one I was aiming at.

Dial back the coffee before you go out, and focus on the relationship of the sights more than the front blade's position on the target. I know that second half sounds wrong, but the alignment errors hurt you more than not aiming at the center of the target.

Nice.

##25 Yard Iron Sights Entry##
Zukiphile - 22/45 - 217-3X

DATE: 5/13/2021
SCORE: 217-3X
NAME: Zukiphile, 55
LOCATION: Ohio
GUN: 22/45
GUN SETUP: Adjustible iron sights
AMMO: Winchester 45gr
INDIV TGTS SCORES: 42, 45-1X, 42, 42-2X, 46

This was a nightmare. I forgot why I only use this ammunition in the sloppiest of chambers. The bullets are oversized and stick in the chamber so the rim doesn't seat. I had a dozen failures to ignite, and had to pry every single one out with a screwdriver. Gusting wind too in what was forecast to be a less windy day. The numerical score is fine, but I think it's a fluke.

Really nice shooting Zuk! Especially with the handicap of poor ammo.

Thanks, it was a parfait of frustration. I had two targets to go when it felt as if there would be an impending cease fire, and at that point I knew a click-no-bang meant going back to the screw driver. The last five rounds were thrown at the paper so I wouldn't spend 20 minutes with no target, yet that target showed three 10s. We all know that if we aren't enjoying it, we are doing it wrong. I was doing it wrong.

This was all my fault since I knew the problem with this ammunition, and just forgot.

Ruger 25 yard 5-11-21.jpg

Went again yesterday with the thought of trying another set of targets. Sighters and adjustments told me it wasn't the day to better this score, so I just got in some 25 yard practice and tore up a target at 25ft.

Fantastic scores Kingrider. That should put you on top of the 10 yard scoped, and the 2nd highest score on the 25 yard scoped. So it looks like the top of the heap scores are from you and another model 41 owner. Is this a brand new 41 you got or "new to you"? Either way, beautiful pistols..... I think they have stood the test of time in performance and looks.

As for your day Zukiphile.... I have to wonder what you might have shot without the ammo frustrations? That's an absolutely blazing score for a fixed sight pistol IMHO. I have a feeling that will stand as high score for a while.

GUN SETUP: Adjustable factory iron sights
AMMO: CCI S.V.

While this is a new high score for me, getting near 200 or above might be a multi year endeavor! Will try this pistol soon with a red dot and Burris scope to raise the score.

Signmaster Bob, I like your use of only 2 targets to get the 25 shots in. Might try 12 & 13 to do likewise! I have been using scotch tape to get in two rounds on the 5 targets but that can take too long to do when others are waiting to shoot.

Good progress Marshall. Those scores keep going up. Give us a year or so and if Zukiphile quits shooting we might catch up some. I think that irons score he posted the other day is likely to stand for months at a minimum. and that is even if more shooters jump in the fray.

For now I figure my 25 yard scores are safe to shoot at just a couple targets. It's not like the groups will get tighter like they will at shorter distances. Saves some time and paper, and at my local range time can be a thing to deal with.

I hope my progression is as quick at 25 yards. I'm still at #3 of 3 for now... but maybe I'm just saving my good shooting until the end of the month!

Turns out, it only took you 48 hours to catch up. I shot four pistol A23s on Saturday, barely any wind and a different barrel that shoots everything. No feed or ignition problems.

All scores were in the 180s.

25 Yard Iron Sights Entry

DATE: 5/18/2021

Tried something different. Had been shooting maybe 3 shots a minute slow fire style resting the pistol muzzle on the bench. This time I shot 5 shots without bringing the pistol down to rest and for some reason, my scores improved to a new high!
