Excellent photographs everyone.

Got out this afternoon in some woodland. A pheasant and raven betrayed the presence of a fox so I made a set and squealed off the hand and in second a good dog turned up.

Hornady 22 varmint Express. 20yds. Ran 50yds but out of sight. My little dog soon found it. The bullet entered its left side at the rear of a lung. Raked the gut and departed via the nuts! Ouch😬

Decided to add this one to the Mantelpiece. I have a solid Black, a Black @ White, a solid Red and a Red with a Black head . Now I am going to have a Grey with a Black head . I don’t take Fox squaks for the pot, I had much rather eat greys. Just a little 25 MN JM stamped of course

February is my favourite month for crow shooting. Shooting them coming to roost early evening is good sport.

Cool.

I have mounts of 2 blacks, gray fox, and a silver/black fox, all full body mounts. I left 2 black squirrels and 3 fox alone that frequent the backyard for food. Another black fox would die and be a partial payment to the stuffer for the bobcat mount in the making, my personal varmint grand slam. My stuffer doesn't like doing squirrels much.

I'm using CCI SV Blue and a Hawke Vantage 3-9x40 with 22lr Subsonic Reticle. Hashes work perfectly to 175yards, although I won't hunt with it past 125yards. These 3 bunnies at 80, 100 and 117 yards. SAKO Finnfire II.

Some great pics everyone!

I got a call from an old sheep farmer the other day. He has started lambing and has been losing a few.

Normally I hit this place in Jan or Feb but we had a good spring and summer here in my part of Australia and some very high grass which made it impossible to call and shoot foxes in many places. So the normal shooting pre lambing didn't happen here.

He told me the grass was down for the most part, so a couple of nights later a mate and I went down to see what we could do for him.

It's a smaller place of around 450 acres but can get a good number of foxes on it and coming in from surrounding places when the lambs drop.

Almost right away and true to form I picked up a set of eyes and the owner trotted in and I shot it at only about 30m away then couldn't find it in the foot high grass to collect my $10 bounty. BAH!

This big fellow came in to about 100m on an open paddock and was an easy shot for the Savage however.

Immediately after this my mate shot a vixen with his Tikka T1x and I saw another pair of eyes a couple of hundred metres off watching it all unfold, but not taking off.

Another good sized dog, no doubt both were hanging around the now deceased vixen.

The A17 has exited out the opposite side of his melon at only about 25m.

En route back to the car my mate called another one in to the edge of a very grassy creek line but the fox pulled up in a bare patch and that was five down on this little place.

The owner is very happy and hopefully this buys him some time. I can shoot on the much larger place next door so plan on hitting that up soon also.
