Besides Lilja, what other after-market barrels are available for the 457?

Also there’s IBI , International Barrels Inc. out of Canada.
Brownell sells two of their models .
I love my Lothar Walther barrels , but my IBI shot best without any break in .
The LW’s caught up real fast after only a couple hundred rounds .
The LW’s are .860 barrels .. the IBI is a .920
They both shoot better than the Lilja I owned .
And they are both drop in barrels, just like a factory barrels .
One of my LW’s required me to smooth the insides of my 457 receiver. I almost cut my finger checking where the grub screw holes were threaded .

I ordered a lothar for mine Doug, but I had a custom profile done and the wait will soon be 9 weeks. Iím sure the heavy barrels are nice but Iím a sporter profile guy myself.

$550 and out of stock in every configuration I tried, no doubt excellent barrels but...when having my 6.5CM built a friend had to have a Bartlein vs the Brux barrel I went with. Much better availability and lower price on the Brux. So far the Brux is shooting much better to boot.

Pay your money and take your chances, more money doesn't always mean a better product.

I have a number of rifles with .920" barrels, but, like iron, I do much prefer sporter contour barrels. But it sounds like all of those suggested are heavy contour barrels (except a special order LW?). Some big names too -- LW and Bartlein -- but not at all familiar with Brux. Will have to check 'em all out, though. Thanks!

Doug

They are out of stock often, but they also restock pretty quickly. Sign up for notifications, and they usually seem to get them back in within a month or two. If you are willing to wait, and don't mind the price tag, it should be an excellent choice.

There have also been some group buys through one of the rimfire central members who coordinated a group buy of custom fitted bartlein and green mountain barrels for the CZ 457s. Range reports were pretty impressive for both. If that happens again, I would seriously consider jumping on it.

The custom contour was $408 including shipping I think. I ordered an hm2. Iíll update when it comes in with the fit and finish. But I have heard nothing but great things about the LW.

I have one Brux barrel, a 26" ordered with a 1-8" twist in .264" bore that my gunsmith chambered in .260 Ackley Improved. It shoots one-ragged-hole three shot groups at 100 yards with, of all things, Nosler Partitions so I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Brux.

Yep, my 6.5CM and 6CM both have Brux barrels and the kind of accuracy that get a man called a liar if not witnessed, both are shot at 500/800 and 1000 yards and on days when their owner is on his game have shot 1/2 MOA at those distances. Alas the owner is showing his age though. Those groups are shot with Hornady Match ammunition.

I hope you test the 457 barrel before replacing it with a LW barrel Doug.
