I called into a local gun shop for a casual look at there second hand guns. It was just the usual stuff so asked the salesman if there was anything out the back " No" was the reply. The manager heard us and said something has come in this morning "never seen one and dont know anything about it". It was for sale on behalf of the owner who didnt have a price on it. I offered $400 they rang the owner he was happy and I took it home. First one Ive ever seen it shoots very well. Not sure if its been refinished or not used much any way I am very pleased

Nice gun
Nice country
From the purplish cast of the action Id say re-blued; some steels do that because of the way the alloy reacts.
Think it is a '1915' model, the last and the strongest of the real Favorites (made by Savage, btw) and good for modern LR-HV even though HV rarely is the most consistent or accurate.
It has a coil mainspring rather than the earlier flat spring so the trigger pull wont be quite as good (if you dont have a flat spring model to compare, so what) but the coil is fine.

You're correct, it is definitely a refinished gun as evidence by the deep draw filing, file marks, and reduced rollmarks, in addition to the color cast.

But so what? It's a timeless beauty, and bought fairly. I hope it becomes a regular shooter for you, and promise it will be a star when you bring it out at the range.

Nice 1915 Favorite. Refinished as stated. Fun shooters. Warning, they can be adictive. I've lost track of how many I have.

Thanks guys it is a lovely old gun that shoots winchester 40gr subs better than my old Ruger 10/22 but a box bullets lasts a lot longer with the Stevens.

i had one like that - suffered in a house fire - no real damage save the finish , and refinished just like that , i missed it enough that i spent quite a few years seeking out a replacement , you will enjoy this the rest of your life , i wish i had never parted with my original , but i hold my replacement that dear ,
