I've got some live (for a while anyway ) lobsters I am cooking for our Mother's Day feast. Still early here in The Great Land. I'll post some pictures later...maybe even some video of the screaming as they hit the boiling water.

Lobsters don't have vocal cords, and even if in agony, they cannot vocalise. The high pitched sound made by an overheating lobster is caused by expanding air rushing out of small holes in lobsters' bodies, like a whistle being blown. A dead lobster will “scream” just as loudly as if it was living.

Anyone who has ever boiled a lobster alive can attest that, when dropped into scalding water, lobsters whip their bodies wildly and scrape the sides of the pot in a desperate attempt to escape. In the journal Science, researcher Gordon Gunter described this method of killing lobsters as “unnecessary torture.”

We would never subject dogs or cats to such cruel treatment—why should it be any different for lobsters? If you’re ready to liberate lobsters—and other animals—from your plate, request a free copy of PETA’s vegetarian starter kit.

Plant lovers will attest plants feel pain so what is a sensitive person to do, turn up the volume of the tv while preparing dinner?

Lobster used to be such a garbage food that it was fed to prisoners in jails in New England years ago.
