I have just put my deposit down on a new CZ 457 .22lr LRP. I'll apply for my license in the morning at the local Garda station (police station). Hopefully it won't take to long to get granted this time, can take up to 3 months.

Price was €1180 and I traded in a good Hatson Escort MPA shotgun that wasn't getting any use now. So now I have to find the other €900.

Start looking for some ammo You will Love your new CZ --It only takes a few trips to the range to just fall in love with one--Blast some Center X or some SK good stuff and it will show you groups you will not believe
I would not take double what I paid for mine---Best rifle I have ever owned--so far it has been flawless
Let us know how it turns out!

Bores on CZ can be tighter than normal 22 I highly suggest a .17 cleaning rod and jags from Dewey you can order direct--great folks fast ship--the .17 stuff works perfect--he also usually has nylon bore brush
If you are really detail oriented a Possum Hollow Cleaning guide is also available direct from them--nylon with hole in it replaces the bolt to keep cleaning rod centered in bore
My barrel was very clean but others have had gunky --I just wet bore with some Hoppes #9 let it sit then mopped and patched until clean--easy as pie
The bolt will get smoother after some time--Mine really got slicker after few thousand rounds
be careful cleaning with solvents that can harm plastic they can screw up the mag well and mags
It is a GREAT upgrade to do the extended mag release IIRC DIP Makes good one
Most including me do a trigger spring upgrade--there are some wonderful threads on here about that process--my trigger got right when I adjusted the sear until it would not hold then went back 1/2 turn
Ebay now has springs cheap--there for a while everyone went with a Yodave but then somebody figured out which McMaster Carr spring he was selling and so.....he did supply a nylon block useful for driving out the trigger pin and supporting trigger housing but you can make one from wood--the pin takes just the right size punch to do right and you need to dress that end of the pin up so it will go back in easy--I put my pin in cordless drill and polished the end with small file then sand paper--then you can use a dab of nail poilish on the ends to "lock" it back in

Man that rifle will make you smile!! Good luck!

Good ole Hoppes 9 or even mineral spirits. Both will get er done nicely. Good luck on finding some decent ammo that is not at a rip off price these days.

Something mild that does not leave a lot of film behind, IMO.
I use Ballistol.
I'd suppose Hoppe's No. 9 or mineral spirits would also be perfectly fine.

I have started to pick up some different makes of ammo while I wait the few weeks for the firearms license to come through.

I already have a couple thousand SK standard, and a couple of boxes of Lapua Centre X at €12.50 a box of 50rounds.
I'll get some SK rifle match at €7 a box of 50 ASAP.

I have the CZ 455 16" varmint, pillar bedded the stock, and all the DipInk add on's. Shoots great.

This is the reply from CZ.
The 457 LRP is a precise rifle, but it is in every way a rimfire only. But if You want to be sure, use a bronze brush and a cleaning cotton patches with alcohol before forst shooting. Then shoot 30 - 50 rounds just to "break in" the rifling and then start the shooting for precision with the same ammunition. After the shooting season or ammunition change do the same - cleaning and "break in".
Hope this answer was for You helpful.

My fellow Americans, please pay close attention to the above quote. In some parts of our country this already exists.

Its beginning in my state starting the middle of March. We had been allowed to personally sell long guns and shot guns to state residents. However now all transfers will have to go through an FFL.

Moved from the NYC area 15 years ago in part because of increased restrictions on law abiding citizens.
