What kind of ammo for Silhouette and Bench Rest?

Hi, I am new to the world of 10/22 and long range rifle shooting. I know that 22's can be very picky on ammo, so was wanting to do some testing. What types of ammo should I consider for Silhouette and 100 yd bench rest. Sub Sonic, Regular velocity,High velocity, hyper velocity? How about point type? Solid, HP, jacket, coated, etc? How about purpose? General purpose, target, hunting, match? I looked on www.22ammo.com and counted around 50 types that would sell for under $3. Sorry about the long post, but would really appreciate any thoughts, opinions, etc.

Try several types of subsonic first. It bucks the wind better and is more LIKELY to be more accurate ON AVERAGE than hi-speed, but may not cycle the action. Try some Wolf and Aguila to start. If you need hi-vel to cycle the action try Federal Lightning and Winchester powerpoint (and anything else available.) Good luck and good shooting.

I usually use Eley Standard (Brown) for most everything, and it is right around your $3.00 a box. Unless you buy a couple of cases then you will no doubt get a better deal.

If no one in your area has it check out Champion shooters or Champions choice.
