I glanced in the mirror, and my eyes have turned green. Very nice Bob. You should post more often. (With pics )

Geezer and Bullet Bob

Geezer I do not know who designed my boot grips, they do differ slightly. I might be interested in your Shooting Stars, if you care to part with them.

Bullet Bob, beautiful grips you have there. That holster looks like a Tom Threeperson's design. He was a Texas lawman, gunfighter type; and was part native American. I have seen that design before, and have a similar holster for my 4" S&W #25-5 .45 Colt. I have a Safariland holster for a 3" J frame S&W that is a copy of a Chic Gaylord design from that same era.

Oh NOW you said the magic name! I discovered CG's book in the local library when I was about 12 and must have read it cover to cover 50 times. Bout ten years ago I got a chance to buy a copy at a local auction--paid a lotta bucks for it but that book still excites me to this day! Nobody makes stuff like the "Metropolitan Special" anymore--classy old guns those were! I'd love to run across one at a gun show that someone thought was worthless just cause it had been "modifed"!

Red face 3" Model 66

Hey Gents:

Those are some dandy 22's posted on this thread . . .
(can you hear the "BUT" coming)

But I am JEALOUS of that 3" Model 66.
I have liked that Model since the first time I saw it.

I have owned a 3" Model 65. Heavy barrel, fixed sights.
I like the size and the power, but it would not shoot
POINT of AIM. (Always 2-3" low.)

'Noticed the same phenomena with a 3" J-Frame, Heavy Barrel
and fixed sights. (2" or more, below, point of aim)

I have a 4" 66 which I really like and use often. (.357)
I also have a 3" (Lugged Barrel) Model 60, Adjustable sights. (38 Spcl.)
By God it shoots WHERE you point it.
I do not have to GUESS, where my strike will be. I KNOW -

THUS I still OWN and use my 3" Model 60.

But alas, my Model 65, was traded away at some long forgotten
gun show . . . tich, tich, tich.

Well, I've chosen the 17-4 w/4" barrel and ramp sight. I won't pick it up until this afternoon and I am excited! I have been shooting the 17-3 w/6" patridge and I am usually getting 3 of 6 shots in a 1" dot at 15 yards. After that they seem to open up a bit- quite a bit. What do you guys shoot and what kind of groups do you get? Don't get me wrong, I'm a squirrel hunter and plinker at heart. Roy
PS: My first bowl of catfood was not pleasurable. I don't like anchovies, but I still have my eye on the 18 and I must find means to fund it.

Well, I have a S&W 18-3, 4" barrel and it is in extremely good shape, but I think I'm going to have to part with it. So, if someone is wanting one, and is really interested, let me know,

Slick little revolver. If you can find one, get a M48 to go with it -- .22WMR. Except for the red ramp on the 48, you can't tell which is which from the side. Both are great shooters.

BTW -- the frame on my 18 started out to be a Mod17 and the 7 was overstamped with an 8. Kind of interesting.
