question while sitting here at work

I am sitting here at work a little bored so I start to think of something that I enjoy, shooting. And while thinking about it I start to think of some really strange things and this question comes to mind. Why doesn't the extractor ignite the bullet when it is being scraped off of the magazine. I understand this on a centerfire since the primer is in the middle but don't understand this on a rimfire though. Sorry, but I am kinda bored.

If by some chance the extractor forcefully crushed the rim, the cartridge would fire. However, a semi-auto pistol is designed so that the cartridge rim slips under the extractor hook as it's stripped from the mag. No pressure is placed on the rim, as is the case by design when the firing pin slams (with considerable force) against the rim, crushing it against the chamber edge and causing ignition.
