My Father's 70th Bearcat

So one of my dealers was liquidating a gentleman's collection of 50+ bearcats and I spotted this beauty.

It immediately reminded me of my fathers old cap guns from when he was a child. I negotiated a good price for this gun and an unfired alpha cat (I basically paid slightly less than a new bearcat for each for you curious folks) and took them home.

The gun has the engravers mark but I as of yet have not been able to identify him.

I decided that this would be a dandy gun for my Father's 70th birthday. I first ****canned the ugly Jay Scott faux pearl grips and replaced them with real stag. I then remembered I had a handmade knife that somewhat matched that I had gotten in a trade deal some years back. Both went off to the local holster maker and VOILA!, the ultimate birthday gift.

I am finishing the presentation case but as I still have a year and a half, I'm not in a rush.

Those stag grips really add a touch of class. Way to go!

By the way, it appears to be a nickel plated gun with a gold base pin and trigger, correct?

I believe the trigger was plated at one time. It still shows some traces of gold. As to the pin, I'm not sure. The frame and trigger guard are plated in nickel I believe, the barrel and cylinder are in the white.

Here's a few more pictures I have saved on this computer:

Ruger Emblem

Barrel

Engravers Mark

First take on the thread was your father had 70 Bearcats. I'd have considered that excessive.

Nice stag grips and as was said, your father should be delighted with the gift. Don

Here's a link to a gentleman who has a "few" Bearcats and then some. He has one of each of the "Alpha Cats", the only known Bearcat with a "D" serial number and "S" (for second) marking and numerous consecutive serial numbered guns.
