Stretching out my 60!

Log in to see fewer ads
Well I have been playing with my model 60 to get it dialed in and find some ammo it liked to chunk out there around 100 yards or so.

I picked up some CCI Velocitors the other day.
A 40 grain 22lr the claims a super fast 1435 fps at the muzzle and, at 100 yards a respectful 1084 fps with just over 100 ft lbs of energy!

Not to bad for a plinker!!

It is the fastest 40 gr 22lr on the market
and packs the most energy at 100 yrds,
according to CCI!

This is five shots at just over 100 yrds.

I had to add my touch to at least one round!
Other then the one flyer I think it was pretty good for a 22LR!

I am pleased with it any way!!

Well, this is when its gonna get all red necked on ya!

At my red neck range the grass is about waist high and there is no bench or rest sooo, I am in the back of my truck with the gun resting on my ghillie suit that is in a tightly packed but conforming bag.
I just rest the stock on my off hand to TRY to get it stable.

The rifle is a used Marlin 60SB that I purchased a few weeks ago as my first semi-auto 22LR!

I purchased a cheap Simmons 22 Mag 3-9x32 silver scope and ring combo to set on top. It is the only silver scope that was available locally.
I believe I am going to purchase some see thru mounts eventually to lift the scope a bit and allow use of the iron sights.

Careful with those rounds, not only can you destroy your buffer there is also the possibility of receiver damage. Step down to regular HV ammo like MiniMags. JMHO.
Nice shooting, by the way.

I shoot the mini mags as well but they scatter out a bit.
If I am just plinking them or any bulk ammo will do.

No doubt the Model 60 can shoot. Another shooter provides more evidence of that fact.

Nice shooting!

heck yeah

the marlin 60 rules!!

you can't buy a cheaper semi auto thats decent. and most 60's will shoot the pants off of your average 10/22

gotta love that micro groove barrel.

I have the same rifle and scope combo.
They shoot very well....

Planning on putting a Mueller APV on it.

"JJ", check out the Mueller APV, folks here swear by them.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Thanks for the recommendation on the Mueller APV scopes. They look like a good quality scope and one may be in my distant future.
But for now, I am doing all I want to do with it and I don't have much more then the price of the Mueller scope in it thus far.

With one daughter in college and another a junior in high school my "fun money funds" are a bit thin!

Allow me to suggest using Blazer rimfire ammo. Not the loose bulk stuff, but the 50rd-in-a-brick stuff. I get some truely amazing groups with this ammo. I usually get around $22-24 a brick.

I was checking them out & I'm not sure I found the right ones.
Is it $22-24 per 50 rd box?:eek
The ones I found was $19 for a box of 525.
