Jed, your opinions and your experience are NOT "the truth", any more than mine are. They are "true" only insofar as your experience goes, and that is with a limited number of examples. The evidence suggests, based on MANY examples, that the Ruger 77 series, while a well- built and strudy rifle, will NOT shoot with a CZ 452. Some in fact DO. Many, many in fact DON'T. I in no way disparage your selection of firearms. You have been extremely fortunate and you are an excellent shot. I'd keep what I have if I were you, too, and sing their praises. To, however, call the CZ a "cheeply(sic) built rifle" , however, is simply to display ignorance and reveal your prejudice. You are better than than that, and MUCH smarter..

That would be prejudice, the antithesis to understanding, my friend.

Really.. I have had little problem in getting any of my 14 Rugers to shoot better than most...
That I would assume , comes from understanding..
When it comes to the 22 Hornet,, it is probebly one of the most missunderstood cartridges in the real world...
I had to relearn a few things myself when I got into it..
And have to say at the very least,, it was fun...
My 22 Hornet,,, probebly is average...
But a golf ball at 200 meters is a decent target....
Or a crow at 380..
Or a squirrel at 240..
Porcupine at 35..
Its all good...
Never wanted or expected it to be a bench gun by any means...
But never really suprised on just what it is capeable of either..

I used to hate the 77/22 because I went through a few in WMR and Hornet with sad results.

I couldn't believe anyone would say his 77/22 was a tack driver at 100 yards because my experiences and information from the crowd convinced me they were all fine looking lemons.

But I did find one in WMR recently that surprised me.

In the CZs I've had bad WMRs too. If I had to choose which design LOOKS better and is MADE better I'd say the 77/22.

If I was to want accuracy out of the box I'd gamble on the CZ.

The Ruger is pretty and the CZ is not.

The CZ is usually accurate and the Ruger is usually not.

One has to gamble either way in this bracket of .22s and Hornets.

That is very insulting. I'm very surprised you would be so rude

I know what the history of this 527 is. I have RFC witnesses that were THERE Jed. I have targets. The rifle is stock. I did sand one small spot of wood in the barrel channel...that's it.

I know this rifle. It is my favorite centerfire. I KNOW what was done and when.

I have been bedding and tuning rifles for for 34 years. I know what was done to this rifle. One section the size of a dime sanded BEFORE it was ever shot.

Nobody helped me with this rifle because it was never needed. Some one telling me what was done to my rifle 4 years ago is silly.

If anyone "taught" me to LOAD the Hornet it was Ross Seyfreid the author and I have given him credit many times.

Pssssssssttt!
Vincent...
I remember when you ordered your CZ..
I was happy for you,, as there are not many that find or found, the 22 Hornet that appealing..
( If it were not for Ruger re-introduceing the 22 Hornet,, it was all but dead!)
I also remember it was probebly the third time to the range befor you shot it at the 100 yard mark... MOA at 50 yards???
I also remember you not being so impressed with your first load results...
We chatted back and forth about that..
I also remember someone elce posting pictures of your first 25 yard 1/4 inch superstock club. ( seems you couldnt find a camera or scanner , to do it yourself...)
It may be why I decided,, whats it worth?
You really should re-read, what started that little piece of RFC.
I found it interesting,, as well as your complaining about it..
I never said I tought you squat about anything...
Doubt at this point ,that would be possible anyway...
Guess you may wish I could...
Iff'in you assumed I said such...
Such is life....
What meds you doing these days Vince??

Jed....I never "ordered" my rifle. I went into Franklin Gun Shop one day and there it was. I bought it the next day after selling my Rem Nylon 11. No order. Bought. They had a number of them with the maple stocks and I took the first one we opened.

Jed I have long thought of you as a friend here but you are incorrect.

This never happened:

Quote:
And when you do get a chance Oldsweed,,, ask Vincent who he asked for help, when he bought his Hornet and could not get it setteled down...
His questions to me, were very much like the statements made by the origional poster in this thread..
Jed..... Agoetz2005 went with me on the very first trip to the range with this rifle. On that trip this rifle shot many .5 to 1 MOA groups with several loads. FIRST TRIP!

I do not mean to be a rude as you have been to me Jed but have you been drinking tonight? I really do not know what is going on with you but the things you describe did not happen other than a couple PMs back and forth about what I was loading. I have been loading Hornets since 1976 Jed.

I never shot the CZ at 50 yards. Have not to this day. I DID shoot the NEF at 50 and I have never been really happy with the groups from this rifle. We did discuss this rifle several times. This was before I bought Blondie the CZ. I really suspect you have confused these two rifles.
