Marlin No. 47 pump w/pics

Hello all,

I picked up this rather unusual Marlin No. 47 at a local consignment auction this past weekend. I always wanted an old pump .22, so I got this one. From what I can gather, these were never sold to the public. They were given as "gifts" to people who bought $100 worth of Marlin stock, and were only made in 1930. That was right after the stock market crash, and I would imagine stock was probably hard to move, so thus the rifle being offered as an incentive. Or at least that's my theory Mechanically, the rifle functions great. The bluing has pretty much faded from use and age, but there is no significant rusting or pitting. The receiver was done in a new-at-the-time cyanide case color. There are traces of this left. The stock shows use, but does not appear to have been sanded or messed with, and is not cracked or broken anywhere. The checkering has almost worn away from use. Overall, I was quite pleased with the rifle, and didn't pay a whole lot for it ($150).

Stacy
