Question Replacement key(s) for Browning hard case

Log in to see fewer ads
Some time ago I picked up several either Browning or Hartman hard cases at auction(s). Not all are alike inside. Any idea where one might get replacement keys for the locks? I vaguely recall Camster addressing this issue previously but I have slept many times since. Thanks

Presto is the brand Oldbird. Found some on e-Bay a few years ago for mine.

1:00 a.m. search for Browning case key

Was up late searching through cases (rifle) by Browning and found a set of keys in one of the several cases I own. It is marked (scroll print) Atco ? and Newark, N.J. in very small print. Those keys worked on all lock cases so now I just have to track down copies. I looked at prior posts and my cases do not use the same key as the medalist case...rifle vs. pistol. Thanks for the post LtCrunch..it helped. Wish I had a medalist to put in a case! Someday....

.

I would suggest that, instead of searching, you have dupes made of the key(s) on hand @ a locksmith's.

Small locks like that tend to have pretty generic keys. My local locksmith carries an assortment of keys for them. I have found several working keys in their selection over the years.

Thumbs up Browning case replacement keys

Gentlemen, I contacted Atco, located in New Jersey, and they offered to send me the replacement key(s) if I sent a self-addressed envelope to them. They are a subsidiary of Universal Tools & Manufacturing in Springfield, NJ 07081.

Just a word of caution. A perfectly flat thin key might survive, but any key with a raised portion might be problematic. The PO is no longer too keen on keys being sent in an ordinary envelope,as there is a risk of the sorting machine catching on a key, with the envelope being shredded.
