Walther KK-Silhouette
Hello everyone!
I'm a new member and this is my first post, so please bear with me.
I recently purchased a Walther KK-Silhouette rifle. It has a circular badge on the left side of the stock that says this is a 100 year anniversary rifle for Walther 1886-1986. The rifle is in very good shape and has been set up for bench rest competition. Up until now, I've shot my trusty Savage Mark II TR, and shot sporter class, but wanted to up my game and try bench rest shooting.
First off, does anyone have any information on this particular rifle, regarding history, and how it might perform in bench rest duty? I've not seen one of these before. Are they a fairly common rifle, or somewhat of a rarity?
I received the manual for the rifle, but nowhere can I find the instructions for taking the action out of the wood stock. I can see there is what I believe is called the 'action' screw, just forward of the trigger guard and the two screws on either side of the trigger guard. I assume all three of these need to be removed in order to separate the action from the stock. Is that all that is required, or is there more to it than that?
And finally, does anyone have a torque value for those screws when replacing the stock? As per most rifles, I'm sure this might vary, but I'm wondering what the general rule of thumb is in setting the torque values. I've heard somewhere in the 25-30 in/lb range.
Thanks guys. From what I can see, this forum is going to be a great resource for me!
