I was using a 2-7X on my pistol but it was a NcStar so it had the optical quality of a McDonald's Happy Meal toy plus the scope was a PITA to consistently get a good sight picture. I ditched it in lieu of a T-dot red dot that I had lying around. The red dot is much, much easier, faster and forgiving to use in the field.

Reb, Too bad that Tasco doesn't have an adjustable ocular to adjust it for your eyes. I've just about given up on trying to use scopes for squirrels that don't have Parallax adjustment; at least on rifles I have.

Don't know what to suggest for your Victory, I would still want some magnification myself, but good pistol scopes can be pricey. Burris has made some good ones for pistols if you ever get a chance to buy one.

I still shoot pistols with iron sights but I think I'm only still hitting well with them because I still remember how I shot them when I could still see the sights. Now I just sorta remember where the sights used to be when I shoot and just get away with it by knowing how to hold my pistols so that the sights are fairly well lined up even though I can't see them clearly.

You can play with a scope in a store or around the house, but until you have it in the woods, it can't be completely evaluated. The squirrels were on the ground and everywhere. I was reminded of some things and learned a couple more. I found out that I can still kill squirrels with a handgun and that my scope doesnt work for me. I managed to sneak within 25 yards of four working under a big old oak. The 2x Japanese Tasco just wasnt very clear, but I did manage to finally wait one out until he got clear of the brush. One shot, one dead squirrel. The other three scattered to the wind. It was a short(30 minutes), but meaningful, time in the woods.

Thanks Sarge. Not too many options when you're a lefty so I will probably hang on to it forever.

You are right about lefty options. I doubt they do, but I hope CZ someday makes the new 457 in a left hand version. I really like what they have done with it.

Got 1 this morning

Found the squirrels just as it started to rain. Love hunting with the Contender.

Contenders are great. I have owned several over the years and wish I had kept one of them. I would love a 10 inch bull barrel in 17hm2.

I had an NcStar on a 222 Contender once. It was a POS. Never again.

Contender

I have a 15" Bullberry 17 HMR for a Contender most accurate barrel I ever had. I once had 23" rifle barrel in 17 Mach II, traded it off when ammo was in short supply. I wish I had it back.

I had a G2 with a 23" 17hm2 barrel also. For some reason known only to me at the time, I got rid of it.

Well, you just saw something a little shinier Reb!

I had one that I traded away that would put those tiny little pills in the same hole at 25 yds. Missed it so much that I bought another. Not quite as good but still serviceable.

I feel your pain, Reb.
