Stainless 10/22 Question

Some of the Sporter 10/22's shown on the Ruger website are listed as Stainless Steel.

Is the receiver actually Stainless Steel or only the barrel?

Are these receivers any better or worse quality than the standard Ruger 10/22 receiver?

Only the barrel. Everything else is the same.

No they are not stainless steel they are aluminum with a stainless colored coating, vs a black coating. They are the same .

My two silver receivers look good with a nice brushed aluminum finish.

The one black receiver looks like it was covered with a too-thick coating of rattle-can black paint.

I pay the extra to get the stainless barrel.

I found out accidently that hoppes blast and clean will easily remove the finish off of the "stainless" painted receivers. I went ahead removed it all and coated with deft laquer, I really like the look better than the paint. So far it has held up well.
