Camp Perry this Week End!!

Just got the "Welcome Email"
I guess the AutoScore was a mess last year after the rain and they are going back to Manual scoring on the range. I know I had a lot of issue with my targets last year Lesson learned was don't leave the range until your verify your score. The had "lost" 4 of my targets!!

I sure would like to see them make the BBQ start sooner. It a long ride home to wait around for a $4.00 hamburger.

It is nice that they have add an instant individual "Medal Ceremony with pix available. This is catching up with the Triathlons etc. Nice touch.

Scorecards must be stamped with the proof of weigh in. Its a shame that this is required. All we are shooting for is bragging rights and piece of colored pot metal. Somebody is always trying to game the system, I guess.

See ya there!!

A friend and I shot the rimfire sporter match at Perry for the first time this weekend. No match is perfect but we had a good time and met lots of nice folks. Some shooting events are mostly grey-haired folks, but this one had lots of young shooters. Liked it. Glad we didn't have to shoot Saturday (in the heat)

Cool

It was a good match this week end. As noted in OP, CMP made some changes I think were good.
Shooter's "buddy scored" targets while there will still posted on the boards. It went pretty fast and I don't think it affected the duration of the match.

T-shirts, Squadding are all inside the A/c! Nice.

Overall match numbers appeared to be way done. 4th relay was cancelled and melded into the remaining 3. This allowed the BBQ to move up and it also was inside the A/C . Nice too! and great spread!

I had an epiphany this week end. Open sights are getting to hard to see. If I convert a 10/22 to tactical, I can shoot Scope on a "standard, and scope on a tactical! Guess I'm going to join the "tacticool" crowd!

Lessons learned:
1. Tie down the cart in the Ford Flex better. If you don't, it slide back and smashes the interior trim panel.
2. Count your bullets! Apparently short loaded a mag on Off hand Slow fire and had 3 lost rds. And no, I didn't miss. Leaving 30 points on the mat hurts!

Overall Great job by CMP Staff and ARNG support and vollunteers!!

Did win some shiny pot metal too!!

carp, I ate more rounds than you did on the first relay...I don't want to talk about it. Second time through with my t-class bolt gun at least I got them all off and got a hunk of pot metal. I think a young lady at the awards ceremony had shot 590 with open sights, which is pretty impressive. It was my first time at that match, and I thought it went along pretty well except the range officer's screw up calling the first rapid fire sitting stage. I think the sporter match still had more shooters than the smallbore prone and 3-position matches.
