Do J&P peeps work on the newer 455 tangent rear sight?

Since the newer 455's with sights no longer have a Williams type rear and now have a tangent rear... will J&P peeps work with those?

They look like they would but I don't have a new one to try.

Yes they are the same. The middle size (3/32) CZ ghost ring sight worked best for me.

What was your factory rear sight- tangent or blade? The OP's question was whether the J&P ghost ring works with a tangent rear sight. I just checked the J&P website, and the home page states that their ghost ring does not work with a 455. Here's the quote:

"These sight inserts replace the rear sight blade on the 452 Lux, Ultra Lux, Special/Trainer and Full Stock. It does not fit any 455 models.
The Ghost Ring sight blade is easily installed by removing one of the windage adjustment screws, removing the factory blade and replacing it with the ghost ring blade. Sight adjustments use the same procedure as the factory blade. This sight is much easier to use than the factory blade for everyone but is especially useful for those of us with aging eyes that have a hard time focusing on several different focal lengths."

I have been confused about the rear sights for 452 and 455 models for some time. What I have slowly learned is that some 452's apparently have blade sights (Lux, Scout) and some have tangent sights (Special/Training Rifle, UltraLux). And some 455's have blade sights and some have tangent sights, but not necessarily the same ones.

So J&P's statement that their ghost ring "does not fit any 455 models" again has me confused. What I think they meant to say was their ghost ring can only be used to replace a blade rear sight, not a tangent rear sight...

The J&P apertures only fit the tangent sights, which is all 452's except the Scout.

It should fit the tangents on the 455 models that have them, but I can't verify.

I have a feeling that statement was made when the 455's with irons had the Williams type rear sight.

The J&P sight blade can only be used with the tangent rear and will not work on the Williams. What I was trying to find out is if the 452 and 455 tangent rear sight leafs were the same and would accept the J&P peep blades.

Sure sounds like "Lowkey" has tried them and they work.

Yep, Low Key understood the question, and answered what most assumed -- they're the same as what had been on the 452s.

Squeezer, your confusion comes from CZ reintroducing the tangent rear sights on 455s.

Thanks Steve-

So the J&P ghost ring replaces the rear blade of the tangent sight, right? I'll certainly look into one sooner or later.

Yes. I'd recommend getting all 3 sizes to see which you like. (Then buy 2 more rifles for the other 2 ghost rings.)

We originally wrote out text for the Williams 455 sights that do not take the sight blade we make. We have not tried them personally on the 455 tangent sight. We respect Low Key's affirmation that they do fit and will check into the matter further and post our findings also.

Here is a photo of my J&P ghost ring on a 455 tangent sight. The 452 and 455 tangent sight leafs appear identical and are interchangeable.

Thanks for posting the pic!

A gent in another thread has a 455 Lux and was considering a scope since his eyes are not the greatest and I wanted to suggest the J&P peeps, but wasn't sure if the sight leaf of the 455 tangent rear was the same. Anyway, I can relate to not having the greatest eyes and these have helped me a lot vs. the open notch.

Of course I made my usual suggestion to get an American to scope.
