Do they still make this for the 41 or have they discontinued it? I remember when everyone raved how well these worked for extraction issues.

Found mine on Brownell's, but that's been a while ago. Good Luck. Discontinued.

The extractor in a blow back operated gun does not extract in a firing situation. The gas pressure turns the empty case into a piston which drives the slide to the rear. The job of the extractor is to hold the empty case to the slide in the slides travel to the rear during firing. This allow the ejector to get a good hit on the empty case to fling it out of the gun on a repeatable trajectory.

The extractor should only touch the case in one place. That is, the point of the claw should only touch the case at the exact junction of the case body and the rim. It should not be jammed up against the case body or on the rim.

Once the extractor claw is right, the test is to remove the slide from the gun. Place a loaded round on the slide bolt face, up and under the extractor claw. You should be able to gently shake the slide and the loaded round not fall off.

There is nothing magical about the Volquartsen extractor except that is tuned correctly. Since modern guns, new from the factory, get no hands on tuning, few have a correctly fitted extractor.

I have not taken both out together to compare them. Turtle maybe since you have a couple spares you can let us know. But are not the S&W 41 and the Ruger Mark series extractors not the same ? They sure look alike from what I remember. I just do not want to take them out.

I called volquartsen and they did discontinue extractor for 41 I ask why I was told they didn’t sell enough to be worth there while. So hopefully someone will make them like Tandemkross
