Also, who really cares about "hammer forged barrels"? There are extremely accurate barrels from every type of method used to make barrels.

I agree, the CZs are much better, but my Zastava did shoot well. As for the "who cares"? I do! It is one more thing that potentially makes CZs better than the others. This Turkish import may shoot well, or it may be average or worse. You should buy one and find out for us.

IMHO, Competition is always a good thing. I would hope for better than CZ99. I do not see anything like CZ quality in the Zestava metal work. That is across the whole Zestava product line. I still like to see more players and if Zestava and Hatsan get into a quality battle that would be great by me. Or someday, either threaten the design and quality/price point of the 455 also good.

I would have expected an American clone as a first effort. Most rimfires get a scope mounted. Not a complaint, just a passing comment. Funny how they copy the hump back stock instead of the early Brno stocks. Maybe they will clone a Brno No1 next? Vented recoil pad, white line spacer, they are living back in the 70's. Funny huh. Looks like pretty extreme drop at comb even for that style stock. This is an iron site gun all the way. I wonder how they dod the checkering, it reminds me of the cheezy stamped stocks of the 1970's. What a price, that will trump any features for many buyers.

That front sight won't get them high marks for accuracy.

Spoken like a true American

This is an iron site gun all the way.
The bolt handle appears to confirm that.

Can't agree with you on that one. The machining of the trigger guard on the CZ99/Z5 is superb, as is the deep bluing. Zastava handguns on the other hand.....beautiful external finish and garbage inside. I am told the importers choose the level of finish and a cheap gun gets a cheap finish. My M88a 9mm was very poor inside but a cool gun nonetheless. Our old friend Denny told me that Zastava guns are made on old Brno machinery and use the same steel that Brno used. Still, I sold my Zastava Z5 and still own 10 CZ rifles, because they are better.

No, no, no......I have paid my dues! Years ago I bought a Savage 93 Classic WMR and the forum "urged" me to also get a CZ American WMR to compare. At least that is how I remember it occurring. And I did buy that American....still have it....and it could do .75" groups and the best I got the Savage to do was 1.25". Your turn!

Look closely at the fitment of the rubber buttpad, it's worse than a home-done job on an antique single-barrel shotgun (although I think they used the same pads).

I think I'll pass. My bestest shooting buddies just bought a couple Ruger Americans for a fuzz more money. They'd suit me a lot better, I think. if my 452 and 455 weren't up to the job. The RARs have an excellent metal finish, and use a pretty good magazine, that isn't hard to find.

Unhappy not available yet?????

I searched and even had my LGS search yesterday, no info yet. this may be a bargain or a dud, how can we make a judgement with only one the small photo to base a decision on?? the Legacy 2017 catalog is not out yet. I bet Academy will have them, probably $200. or under. I want to see and hold the real thing, THEN make my decision. I don't own a bolt rifle since I shoot lefty, but if this is nice I WILL GET ONE just for giggles! as I stated above, I am so pleased with my escort 20 ga pump, it shows just how fine a gun Hatsan CAN MAKE!!
