Yes, I know. I just checked the ARA site again and Brian Thompson-WI has been incorrectly posted to Brian Thompson from the Ohio area for the match at Van Dyne. I will notify Dawn and let her know. Looks like one of Brian Thompson's matches has been credited to Brian Thompson-WI as well. Dawn will get it fixed.

My apologies to the Factory Brian Thompson. We didn't shoot together in Wisconsin.

Would a 452 American be allowed in factory class if it were in a Boyd’s Pro Varmint stock? I mean 455’s and 457’s come from the factory that way. Asking for a friend.

I think you've answered your own question....."came from the factory".

A 452 American would have come from the factory in a 452 American stock, so the answer IMO is no, it would not be legal. Swapping parts from one series rifle to another is not how they came from the factory. Please read section 8.4 and specifically 8.4.1.4 of the ARA rules. It explains explicitly what you can do to a rifle that is legal. Questions of this nature are best answered by reading the rules. If there is still a question, contacting the sanctioning body is the correct way to find the information needed. The ARA will be happy to clarify.

As an outsider let me voice a few opinions...

1. That Indian/arrow analogy is nonsense. If that were true would you self proclaimed Indians be willing to shoot a $300 Ruger 10/22 in competition? No, with 100% certainty, you wouldn't. See #2.

2. Way back when I worked in the bicycle industry. A clumsy, no coordination, destined to be a nerdy engineer could absolutely destroy the most athletically gifted, geneticaly advantaged kid on the planet simply based on the bike. Arrow.
See #3.

3. I always felt this unfair to the kid who wanted to race but didn't have funds the kid on the other side of the tracks had. I always felt there should have been rules on equipment to level the playing field and encourage more kids to participate. No rich parent can tolerate their kid getting destroyed by a poor kid. That's why 'travel leagues' exist. So rich kids can win.

4. I just read over the ARA list. How non-committal and non-specific can a list be? How hard is it to make a simple 'go no go list'. Unlike the go, maybe go, maybe no, no list. Make a simple list. Its either on the list or it isn't.

5. I get the 'grandfathering' in of some CZ's based on an MSRP change. I'd be pissed to no end if I bought a 457 Dec 31st only to find out the MSRP changed Jan 1st. Any easy way around that is for the ARA to twilight certain 457 models. See #6

6. 1938 has come and gone. Get over it. Your gun was 'twilighted' because this is 2021 and well, its time to move on. None of you, ok, maybe one of you, is still using a rotary phone.

7. Speaking of 457's... if the last expensive is (guessing here) $500 and all the action/barrels are the same what difference does it make if its a $500 or $1500 457? This is where the 'Indian' wins.....or loses.

8. In general, and it doesn't matter the competition, the people who complain the most, are the ones trying to circumvent the rules. Like the bipods see #9

9. If the gun has to be 'off the shelf' everything else should be 'off the shelf' with a defined MSRP.

10. What a joke. X owns Y. Y owns Z. But Z has nothing to do with X. More nonsense. See 11.

11. VW owns Porsche. But Porsches 'holding group' owns 52% of VW.

Yes they can <img src="https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/images/smilies/sthumb.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Blue Thumb" class="inlineimg" />
My 452 easily outshoots my MTR.
