All of my 22s shoot Golden Bullets just fine--Good accuracy and reliability. Sometimes I think the hate-thread get started for fun to see what the reaction will be.

I think it depends on what your standards for accuracy are. Here is a target where I compared Remington Cyclones to Remington Golden Bullet HP's. They basically have the same specs, except that the GB's are flash plated and the Cyclones are not.

The bottom target is 10 shots and is essentially like a shotgun pattern. The top two are the Cyclones and are two 5 shot groups. They are nearly target quality, except for the 1 flier out of 10 shots. The GB's also shoot lower and to the right, which I have found is a sign of lower velocity.

Here's your chance again. The Rem 525's and the buckets are now up at Gander. $35 and $90, limits of 1.

CCI SP and Rem square boxes are also still up.

Never shot a single GB simply because I've settled into CCI and Federal in most of their offerings. One thing I do like about the GBs is the 100 rd plastic boxes! At the range I often find the empties in the trash and rescue them to break down the 325 bulks of Auto Match. The labels peel right off nice and clean too.

I was reading Dean's post, dated 4-13-2016 and saw the missing photo.

I'll restore Dean's photo below and add two additional photos that show the whole gun of both sides, since I can't gain access to Dean's Imgur photo account.

I plan to restore Dean's missing photos when I read his posts, as best I can.

Sadly, Dean passed away at 68 on Dec. 7, 2020 from Lymphoma cancer.

He'll be deeply and greatly missed, especially by me.

The gun that Dean showed in his photo is his Calfee Custom XP100 BR-50 #82

[Calfee always numbers his guns and this is #82 and that's what Dean always called it and referred to it as].

In case I didn't "get" what Dean was trying to portray in his missing photo link, I'll add two more photos of targets below.

Sorry, but since I can't gain access to his Imgur photo account like I used to, it's been harder to try and get the correct photos posted.

Way back in the 1960's Remington golden .22 LR Hollow points were my go to ammo. I liked them MUCH better than the Winchesters or Federals.

Boy they sure gone down hill since

I wasn't shooting Goldens years ago when they had duds, then I was shooting Mini-Mags and Super-X.
The Super-X I bought a couple weeks ago truly suck. I'd have a good group going and one or two would hit way low, like an 1"- 1 1/2" low at 50 yards.

The Goldens, as usual, are very close to Mini-Mags and RWS HVHP.
I currently have 6 bricks of Goldens, and have shot 6 more in the last 1 1/2 years.
Every single one has gone off, no damaged rounds in the bulk packs, and in my 5 rifles and two handguns, GB's are right up there with the better HV hunting rounds, certainly better than any other bulk ammo I've tried.

Remington isn't claiming the Goldens to be Match ammo, they are bulk box plinking ammo. But some expect 4-5 cents a round plinking ammo to be as good as their $15 a box Match stuff.
If I went to hunt I'd prefer RWS Subsonic HP or Mini-Mags, but I wouldn't starve if I had to use Golden HP's.
I haven't noticed any Golden "Pixie Dust" in my guns or in the bottom of the box either.

I've been able to buy Goldens (and Mini-Mags) at pre-panic prices all fall and winter, several times a month I've gone into Walmart and they had the 525 packs
for $24.97 each, and Mini-Mags are going for $7.97 per 100 pack.

Yesterday I bought another Belgian SA-22, and on the way home found a shop that had 250 round bulk packs of Aguila Extra. They were $25 each.
I hated to pay 10 cents a round but I'm sure the Aguila will be decent ammo.

Federal American Eagle was by far the worst accuracy out of 4 of my rifles I tried them in, and Winchester, ferget about it. Many damaged rounds and wild velocity spreads.
If you want to do a thread about the worst .22 ammo being made today, it should be about Winchester, not Remington.

sandog, thanks for being the guinea pig for Remington Goldens. Hopefully with Remington ammo under new management luck with their ammo will continue! I'm very disappointed in the last winchester 22 ammo I purchased that is nowhere near as good as it was 10+ years back.

I found a brick of Rems from the 80s. They were good back then.
