[QUOTE=Knotwild;I let the rear sight up so I could look under it and see if anything was holding it up, but it was clean. I've had this gun since the 70's and I have shot the heck out of it "plinking". .[/QUOTE]

Wouldn't a 1970's 5.5" Mod 41 have the Mod 52 type rear sight? I thought the Keng's came much later.

You are correct if it has original barrel on it

Reading this thread with great interest. I bought a 41 a couple years ago and finally got it out to shoot a couple weeks ago. I seem to be having the same problem as the OP. It shoots a nice group but a few inches high at 25 yards. I tried to bring it down and despite the rear sight being screwed all the way down I couldn’t bring the POI down.

This is a really old gun, #172xx which I believe dates it to 1958 or 59 and is really nice although I realize it could be very well used no matter how good it looks. Is there anything about the rear sight in this era gun that I may not know or be missing as I try to adjust it?

If it was shooting fine before, and now is shooting high, something has changed.

Unless the pistol was dropped and damaged Id take a look at the bore. For years Remington bulk ammo was considered junk, leading barrels was not uncommon. I would clean it thoroughly and try a known high quality standard velocity ammo.

I’ll take it out and try again. I don’t know how it shot before, this was my first time trying it out after buying it.

Sorry my reply was meant for the OP. I had a couple of 41’s, 70’s vintage. I had mine sighted for a 6 o’clock hold so the issue of shooting high never came up with my 7 3/8”. I did own a 41 with the 5” lightweight field barrel I used for small game hunting and it shot to point of aim. It had a ramp front sight and I think the same rear sight as the 7 3/8” with the muzzle brake.
