Anyone know the moderator of this board? This really would make a good sticky. And not just for the Winchester guys.

James, you are mighty right. However, I should make sure you were talking to the real Jeff. There have been reports of counterfeit clones being produced with the same proof marks and everything. Very hard to tell the real from the fakes, they all have the rugged he-man looks. The real JWA wears any color of shirt you can imagine as long as you can only imagine black.

I would be your man! I was already considering making this thread a sticky but this isn't really Winchester specific and, as you point out, would likely appeal to rimfire fans in general. So I have to wonder if it wouldn't be better off in the Open Rimfire section.

Your input would be appreciated.

Gotta watch those pilot types, they're pretty shifty.

I agree with you PW, this is the type of thread common to all of us, even the ones who for whatever reason haven't realized the perfection that is Winchester.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to post pictures of some great books. You've expanded my library needs a lot. Great looking old Dodge Jeff.
Thanks Again

This post jogged a memory....

When I was around fifteen years old, my dad purchased one of these old power wagons/weapon carrier to use around the farm. It soon developed engine problems and was parked in the hay barn. I purchased a set of Sears tools, ordered an overhaul kit (from Sears) and overhauled the engine in it. With a little assistance from a more knowledgeable friend, we got it in running condition. Learned how to drive and developed a lot of mechanical skills using that old truck. Took it into the river bottom on fishing and hunting trips, and so on. Some great memories attached to it....wish I still had it.

Great story, they are simple beasts and about as tough as they come.

I really wish I could make it to the Power Wagon Rally in IA, maybe one of these days......

I am going to move my photos and non-relevant chatter to a new thread so this one can remain uncluttered if it is going to be a sticky about books.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Best Regards,

This is officially a sticky in the Open Rimfire section (thanks Jee). A redirect link will remain in the Winchester forum for 6 months.

Great thread guys! Thanks to 22AGS for starting it and to all who have contributed.

Awesome Thank you moderators! Now to get ALL our RFC'ers aboard chipping in their titles. There's plenty of challenge and a quest for those wishing to find the books we're illustrating here. Should be lots of fun, and besides, this information is extremely useful, much of it would be lost if not for the effort these authors put in, and in many cases, these pages create a great return to the days when we could take a walk in the squirrel woods with our favorite gun and find ourselves in the natural world of the great outdoors!
