I wonder how much shorter that is than the old folding stock 10/22s like the AMT Lightning came with back in the late 1980s?

That stock is REALLY cool. Does anyone know what barrel that is in the top picture on the Magpul website?

This is the barrel on Magpul's site.
I will buy one of those stocks as soon as they are released!! The storage for the extra mags in the stock is a cool idea.

This new backpacker stock has me second guessing the way I was going to set up my TD. I already got my Volquartsen Cantilever barrel, and have the Magpul TD x22 stock in the mail.

Now I'm thinking I may just part with the V barrel for a Tac Sol barrel with shroud and get the barrel mount for a micro rds.

Love the X22 stock I just put on my TD and now Magpul comes out with this! I like it. Although, I like the fact that I could adjust the length of on the Hunter stock. Storage looks really nice though.

More money to Magpul from me.
I agree I would purchase just this is a NY MINUTE.

I saw the back packer stock and thought what a great idea.

....why not just cut a notch out of the bottom of a regular plastic Ruger stock and carry the barrel the same way? Those stocks are hollow* and probably can hold some ammo as well. Hold it in place with ranger bands (inner tube) or zip ties.

*in case you don't know, the butt plate on the synthetic Ruger stocks just prys off. It is hollow and you can store stuff inside if so inclined.

I could be wrong but to be legal a folding stock rifle that is capable of firing while folded must be 26" minimum. The Butler Creek folding stock needs the 18.5" barrel to be legal. I have been looking at the take down to get a shorter package and that new stock looks great. I have a S&W 15-22 that breaks down by removing 2 pins but I wanted something not tactical looking which is also a problem with the folders. Problem is by the time I buy a take down, the stock, the optic mount and a trigger I will be looking at $600 not including the optic.

Brownell's is taking pre-orders for the backpacker stock. $105 is the asking price, I'll be getting one in black.

I preordered as well. Just got my takedown today. Also have a Holosun HS503 red dot to go with it. So excited for this! Any rumors about release date more specific than Spring?

That Holosun 503 is pretty nice. 30K-50K hours and if you leave them on automatic, they will turn themselves off after 8 hrs and back on if you move it. Really like the circle dot reticle.

I'm new here so I am looking forward to learning a bunch about the 10/22. I am new to firearms and currently own a Ruger SR22 and Glock 19 Gen 4
