My favorite is my Mossberg 35B. Made between 1938 and 1940. I shoot 100 yards with it.

My favorites are the 13 for serious target and my newly acquired 4 lb Rook rifle for hunting. There's just something about handling each round, putting it in the chamber and closing the lever that just feels right.

Amazing that no one has mentioned one before but my one and only single shot .22 is a model 24 Savage. I bought it in 1960 and is the only single shot .22 I have ever bought for myself outside a full target model Finnish Lion. Got rid of the lion years ago but still shoot my 24, it shoots right well.

Grandpa gave me a Remington 510 when I was 12. It has seen a lot of action in the last 46 years. The only thing I don't like about it is the trigger but that can't be changed and I've gotten used to it.
It has a 3x9 Nikon on it now and still sits by the backdoor.

I only own one single shot .22, a Remington Model 514. It was given to me on my 14th birthday in 1958, the same year the rifle was manufactured according to the code stamped on the barrel. After it languished in cellars, garages and closets for more than 50 years, I was inspired by another poster to resurrect it.

The bore was still shiny and unpitted and, after disassembly, cleaning and lubing, the bolt assembly was fully functional. A gentle application of oil soaked 800 grit paper removed the patina of rust from all the metal. The walnut stock also polished up nicely although it still shows the bumps and bruises I inflicted on it as a boy. Best of all, it still shoots great and that puts a big smile on my face whenever I take it to the range.

I love single shots, all kinds, all calibers. My current favorite is a Miroku-mfd. "Winchester" Low Wall .22 WRM. Deadly and a great modification of JB's great idea!

My all time favorite has to be the Remington 510 when they first started grooving the receiver for scopes in the 1950s. Mine has a super attractive straight-grained walnut stock and a perfect bore. Shoots like a much more expensive rifle.

Second place in bolt actions would be a late-production Win Model 67. Once won an "iron sights only hunting .22" match with one, using the original half-hour trigger and sights! (Them days is long gone--now I NEED a scope....).

That's easy! My "Black Beauty" (as one of the previous owners called her) Vostok Ural 1. 4 locking lugs on the bolt, gorgeous hammer-forged barrel under some kind of thick, weird, secret Russky plastic coating, trigger in the ounces and bughole accuracy. The current scope mount sits much lower, but still not low enough for a good cheek weld. Someday I will likely drill and tap; just haven't worked up the mojo to do it yet.

Behold:
