Promag Archangel

You might want to go over to Midway USA and look into a Promag Archangel. It fits the .920 barrel and will free-float it, if you have a custom (tight) barrel to receiver fit, or you may use the included barrel tensioner device. This is a fantastic stock, especially for the price (less that $100) and should be light enough. Its LOP is adjustable, too.

Should be light enough?!?!

Seriously- and I'm not trying to be a tool here-

Have you ever owned one? If you have one, have you ever weighed it?

The manufacturer lists weight on some of their ads... It weighs FOUR POUNDS!!!

I've built three rifles using the Promag AA and I still have one, just weighed it.
4 lb, 2 oz.

Quote:
Promag Archangel Deluxe Target stock
Model No.: AATS1022-RG
Shipping Weight (in pounds): 4.0
Product in Inches (L x W x H): 32.5 x 3.5 x 9.0
Assembled in Country of Origin: USA
Origin of Components: USA
I've seen folks build entire rifles that weighed less.

For the OP-
The Knoxx Axiom is one of the lightest 10-22 stocks at just 18oz, but I've seen members unhappy with the inherent flex in them, especially when loading on a bipod. That might not be an issue for you, though. I personally cannot attest to the flex issue as I've never touched one- not my taste. Price is right at $69:

Personally, I would reccomend the PWS Raptor if you're right handed. It's light weigh, shoulders well for superb balance offhand, and has decent bench manners.
Mine weighs 2lb, 6oz with pillar & rear tang bedding as well as a bipod adapter.
Price is a bit higher than the others I mentione at $179, but well worth it, IMO.

If you're a lefty or want a light stock for an ambidextrous build, a Boyds Evo (SS Evolution) would do nicely and tips the scales at 2lb. Price is right, too- $99.

If you want a traditional sporter, Hogues OM is 2lb, around $100-

Hope this helps-

DrGunner

Edit- I see you already went with the Axiom. Congrats on a fine shooter. That's what I get for skipping to the end and not reading the middle of the thread, DUH!!!

purchased from the very first run of Raptor stocks ever made, that's why they have the lasered xxx/100 numbers on them

now that PWS makes them I haven't seen them in anything but the standard colors, so no more orange, green, yellow, or purple

Another vote for the PMACA chassis with a Taccom CF buttstock.

Mine is an AGP TD version, but they make a standard 10/22 version, also.

Oh noooo! I love my raptor stock but when I saw that orange color I got way too excited.

Hows the raptor stack up against the barracuda and the yukon extreme?

I can find both of those in "blaze" or "autumn"

I don't have a Yukon Extreme, but I do have a very similar shaped Fajen Silhouette, and I don't like how long the trigger reach is

no such problem with my Boyds Barracuda, so of those two choices, I would definitely go with the Barracuda style stock

as long as thunmbhole stocks are legal where you are...I can take the Raptor to my friends house in NY state and not worry about the police showing up

Dude, thanks so much for the valuable info! So the barracuda has the same ergonomics as the raptor, just a little different look?
No worries about legality here in FL.

AGP TD Kit with 10" Carbon Fiber Handguard and Cerakote Black SS Barrel: $250

AGP Iron Sights for above TD kit: $90 (They now come with TechSights TSR200's, not the Nodak Spud rear sight/rail as pictured on my rifle above.)

PMACA AGP TD Chassis (now called the "10/22 Multi Chassis") with Cerkote OD: $145

PMACA CF Handguard cap: $25

Taccom Carbon Fiber buttstock: $90

Plus an ARF A1 flash hider, ARF pistol grip, ARF buttstock wrench, and, of course, a Ruger 10/22...

BTW, if you don't want to go with the AGP TD kit, PMACA is currently working on a similar handguard that will fit a standard 10/22 (but will still use the PMACA AGP chassis). Going that route would add the cost of the new PMACA handguard, but cut-out the cost of the AGP TD kit.

to me the Evo feels a bit more like the Raptor,

but the Barracuda would do better off the bags if you plan do any shooting from the bench

It looks like PMACA has come out with the Carbon Fiber Handguard that will work with a standard (and bull) 10/22 barrel (and free float it) and the PMACA AGP Chassis.

Good news for those without the AGP TD kit on their 10/22's.

Just added a lightweight chassis to our line up, 4oz lighter, about the same weight as a loaded 10rnd mag.

I have a complete AR-22 that weighs under 3 lbs. (barely) before I put the scope on it.
Taccom 17" alloy sleeved bull barrel
Taccom CF handguard
Taccom CF stock (shortened 1.5")
A-P upper receiver
Mag-Tech magnesium alloy lower receiver
Umbrella Corp. hand grip (more vertical that regular AR grip, made for short entry/assault stocked rifles)
A lot of Taccom parts in the BCG also
Timney 3# AR drop in competition trigger

Current scope is a BSA Sweet-22 6-18x40AO
UTG low profile tactical rings

Total weight is almost exactly 4 lb. on the nose.
Not a 10/22 of course but almost as light as you can go for something you might hunt with on occasion. With a single point tactical sling it stays out of the way pretty well. Feels so light it almost handles more like a plastic sci-fi gun from Buck Rogers or something. Because the Taccom CF stock has such a low cheek weld the scope is mounted so low the 40mm bell on the front has to completely clear the upper receiver rail so that it can ride over the top of the Taccom 1.8" diameter handguard, yet it still gives a good sight picture thru the scope.
