They are/will have been safe-mates. Sure hope there's no separation anxiety.

What a beautiful rifle! The lines of the stock are lovely, the wood is gorgeous, and the workmanship is simply outstanding.

Doug,
Just found the thread on your gorgeous M52 Sporter. That is unquestionably the finest 52 I've ever seen, including one I had Doan Trevor stock for me out of a nice English walnut blank I bought from Cecil Fredi several years ago.

Not to denigrate Doan's stockmaking skills - he did an excellent job on my rifle, and even found an original M70 checkered steel buttplate to use on it. But aside from having Mike Ross chamber & fit a Broughton SS sporter bbl for it, we didn't do any other metal work. I did get Karl Kenyon to perform his magic on the trigger before he passed, and am very pleased with the finished rifle. But yours - wow, it's just beyond words.

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful rifle!

I called and talked to LeRoy about building something very similar one time, but ended up building a silhouette rifle instead. Might have been a mistake on my part!

Talk with LeRoy at Canyon Creek -- he worked/works with a local 'smith.

Well done Doug.
If I wanted a 52 sporter,I'd take the same path.Start with a honest target gun and go from there, ending up with something superior and way more artful than an original sporter, for probably no more money.
Doubtful I'm smart enough to be plunking down 5k+ for an original, and to wonder if it was born exactly that way.I might know my way around Annies,Brownings and Smiths, but I'm a greenhorn in Colt and Winchester territory.

I really don't know about superior. I'd put my c sporter on the bench against just about anything. What Doug has is a work of art, which really the original sporter is in its own right compared to most factory guns. He has an amazing rifle though.
