This was purchased new by my mother, it spent many years as her carry piece. I have the box and papers as well.

Thumbs up

A favorite of mine.
Early post war gun with one line address and pre war ejector rod.
It also has a pretty unique swept back rear sight

Have owned this Model 17-4 since it was new, purchased in January 1980 from Wacker's Variety Store in Cleburne, Texas for $259. Always heavily used, it's still heavily used. More rounds have been fired through this Model 17 than through any other single firearm here. Also purchased a companion Model 14-4 for $209 at that same time. A matched pair. The Hunt brothers had driven silver sky high and a fortunate sale of bulk silver coins meant a windfall for Smith & Wesson "investing."

The Model 14-4 .38 Special. The Model 17 has been fired probably 50 times for every single round fired through the Model 14.

A scan of an old photograph of the Model 17 and a rabbit snack.

An early 1950s 4-inch K-22 Masterpiece. This one represents an important later addition to the .22 handgun menagerie.

648-2 6". It will get Hogue grips and a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro just like its little brother. I wish the 617 had the TT and TH like the 648 came with.

Long thread. 317 3” 😁
No lock, ‘real’ sights, action smoothing with Wolff springs. Great gun.
