I've kept my 39A without a scope.

I took my K prefix to my gunsmith for a Drill and tap and he refused. After awhile I was glad he did. The rear sight was taken off and a peep installed. When I need a scope, that's when it goes to my son.

Scope on one 39a. Peeps on two others .... Skinner on a Mountie and a Lyman on another 39a.

I'm a recent convert to aperture sights and find that out to 50 yds, I'm as good with them as I am with a 4 power scope.

Bought my Mountie with a Leupold 4x Rimfire scope. Was drilled and tapped at factory so no loss of value. I'm torn however, as I have a nice old Lyman receiver peep that's sitting unused. Hmm...so many choices.

Sometimes necessity rules. I scoped my 1956 39A several years ago due to vision problems prior to that it wore a tang sight.

Have scoped ones and ones with peep sights. Peep sight ones used for having fun plinking but the scoped ones more for hunting and my wife likes her's scoped.
