My 37 has a serial #07967 , wearing a Hart barrel ...we can only guess it's in the 1950 range. The rifle was modified for prone shooting ,with a Freeland stock, Hart barrel , and Kenyon trigger . 45/70SS

Thank you 45-70ss, om58 and I appreciate your input. By the serial # I think yours would more likely be 1948 vintage.
cleanprone, thank you for the additional info, is it possible that sn# 09517 is B-WW date code? that would make it fall in Jan. 1950 which would look about right. Thanks, Myles

My 37 is ser. no. is 03603. The markings on the right side of the barrel is not easy for me to understand. I am sure someone here does understand. It looks like 3 marks in a row that look like very small Red Cross, crosses. after that it is the letters KK. What does that tell you?

I read this as XXK. Not too sure what date that is.
Can anyone venture to guess? It is a round tripper from an England visit from all appearances.
Has the NOT MADE IN ENGLAND Stamps on both barrel and action on the right side.

LP,

If it is XXX the date would be 12-51. Not sure what to make of the last letter., I'll tkae a look at it on the desk top shortly, the Ipad mini makes it hard to see.

Could be. I like the rifle, shoots better than I do to be sure. But have not put enough rounds through it yet to make sure what it prefers. I would like to get Eastbank's rifle as my birthday is 2-52.... But this is pretty close!!

Thanks Dave, as Coonhunter suggests KK would be 5-1941. Your info has been added to the spreadsheet.

Thanks!!!!

This thing is a smorgasbord of stamps and things on that right side. It went to England, got all the stamps and tests, got stamped I suppose to leave, and has of course the date stamp also.
They really like stamping over there!!!

LP,

I only have 2 other serial numbers in the 10,000 range listed and both show XX, I believe both of these are incomplete date codes. Since there is no date code for XY my best guess is that it's probably XXX which would put the date of manufacture at 12-51.
