You know...I was thinking the same thing. I'm fresh out of all cheap ammo as of now.

Is the new "cheap ammo" $8.00 a box? No need to answer as a list of cheap ammo for the game is posted. Hard to find cheap ammo anymore. Even ammo that used to be cheap and still is, but it is no longer inexpensive. You can buy second tier target stuff for the price of some of the bulk.

The whole ammo thing is a bummer.

I started playing in the bench rest game early fall last year, but then I found out I couldn't easily replace the ammo I was shooting in it. So, I don't do it now.

I watched a guy pay $49.99 for a bulk box of Remington Golden Bullets the other day and he did with a big grin on his face like he had made a great score! I couldn't believe it.

Guys,
The whole ammo pricing is turned on its head. I can easily find 7.62X39 ammo for $.24 cents a round and yet I cannot find any 22 LR Center-X. The last time I did find it I paid $.21 cents per round. So much for an "inexpensive" hobby.

Bulk is nowhere to be found in my area unless you want to pay a minimum of $.10/round to the gougers. It only goes up in price from there.

My entry to the cheap ammo game 50 yds.
Win. 52D Heavy, Weaver 36T
Ammo used: Fed 750 ( I believe it fits the requirements, it had a Walmart sticker of $7.99.) It was so old that some of the copper coating had flaked off.

I tried some Win 555 from Walmart and some Automatch, both of these are from the last year or so. Some have said QC has gone out the window on the newer manufactured ammo. From my experience today it sure seams so.

First target is the setup target to determine which ammo I wanted to use. The Fed 750 showed the most promise. Shot 2 groups on the set up target and then on to the target for score. only took 10 or so shots for the barrel to settle down and shoot its best.

I am posting this in the 10 bull Mar. The Good, The Bad and The UGLY section also. Not many post there so I thought it should go there to encourage others to post there also.

If some one would check my scoring I would be grateful.

Happy shooting.

Artrepro
Chuck

Awesome, Chuck...

I calculate the group average at .252" - most excellent 50 yd shooting!

Got you posted on the scoreboard

Thanks for playing, eh? This game is what originally got me interested in becoming a shooter instead of a plinker... love it when folks do things like you just did with common ammo...Well done!

So about a month ago I played with my S/A 164 sporter after putting some bike tube under the barrel at the tip of the barrel channel. It picked it up some.

First up is Winchester 'western' 36gr

Next is golden bullets

automatch (re-shoot)

Aguila std vel 40gr

Thank you Sir! I shot another target today with some Aquila subsonic with the Annie at 25y. I just haven't measured it yet. I was a bone head and shot 5 round groups on it instead of 4.

here it is

Junky ammo day @ the range.

Shot a group avg of .237.

I had overlooked these in the range box. Win Super "X".

Way too many flyers in the bunch. A lousy .489

The target:

Did some 25y CAC shooting today with a couple different loads. the s&b didn't shoot that great, neither did the AE5022. I guess they don't like my LH CZ 452 American. had some older boxes of CCI blazer one of my range masters gave me last summer. turned out to shoot pretty great out of the American.

top left: .127"
top right: .414"
center: .106"
bottom left: .232"

average .219"
