Had a bulged barrel curtesy of the previous owner. Other than that, it was in pretty good shape. Cutt it off and crowned it in a lathe.

A pair of aces !!

A 592 in its natural habitat (there's a story behind this one that would silence the 5 haters and naysayers) .

The shot came from the porch of the house to the right of the barn. It was a lasered 270 yards (lasered AFTER the shot.....not before). The 592 is topped with a Fullfield II 4.5x14 with B-Plex.

At the shot I heard the bullet whack home. He was feeding when I shot and appeared to not move (as in a miss). I looked again and he appeared to have leaned on to his side a bit. I yelled for my Mrs. to come look and about then he started to flop/roll down the hill. I found him laying about 10 yards downhill from where he was hit. Bullet entered behind the left shoulder and did not exit. Lots of blood from the nose.

PM report:

Bullet enters high behind the chuck's left shoulder entering the ribcage at the bottom of the spine. Bullet smashed through the botton of a vertabrae, traverses the chest cavity, angling downward through both lungs. Bullet exits ribcage, destroys the right shoulder and is recovered in what would equate to the chuck's mid/upper right bicep.

Conclusion:

1: The 30 gr. Centurion hollowpoint (1st version, not varmint version) is not made to expand much on a chuck at 270 yards.

2: As slick as the 5 Mag pulled this shot off, I have no reason to doubt the above yardage could be stretched a good deal more under proper wind conditions.

3: The 5 Mag is THE ORIGINAL and still the KING of magnum rimfires. The .22 mag and 17 are just wannabes.

Actually never watched a minute of in my life.

Just have a morbidly healthy curiosity for terminal performance.

What was he asking for it? Most that I see start at $350 and go up from their. Not bad for a gun that sold for $69 new. Not many guns go up in value that much.
