Want to Place or Will Make a Place for a Russian Rimfire or Biathlon Rifle

Want to Place ... Looking For: Russian Rimfire or Biathlon Rifle
------------------------ OPEN for Posting ----------------------
I started this thread to provide a place to assist Russian rimfire or Biathlon rifle enthusiasts
in trying to place a RU rifle/pistol or BI rifle in the hands of someone who may better appreciate them.
Or, for Russian rimfire or Biathlon rifle enthusiasts who are searching for a RU rifle/pistol or BI rifle
that another RU rifle/pistol or BI rifle owner who is ready and willing to part with.

The thread is now OPEN for posting.
However, it will continue to be a work in-progress.
To make this thread work, please try to observe the following suggestions/guidelines.
  • This STICKY is not intended to be a For Sale thread.
  • Posts should not be used as advertisements ... consistent with Rimfire Central Forum Rules.
Quote:
i) Advertising in any of the forums is not permitted unless you are a sponsor.
Sponsors may also post in the Sponsor's Announcement Forum.
All others are to use the Trading Post and abide by the rules specific to that forum.
  • It's primary purpose will be to provide notification to interested Russian rimfire or Biathlon rifle enthusiast
of the availability of a RU rifle/pistol or BI rifle.
  • The thread should serve more as a mini Bulletin BOARD for available Russian rimfire rifles/pistols
or Biathlon rifles within the RFC community and outside of the forum.
  • Requests for detailed information or any further discussion would be best handled by email or private message.
  • A reasonable attempt should be made to avoid price posting or cost discussions.
However, it may not be possible to do so in all cases.
  • In such instances, a value may be associated with any rifle/pistol under consideration.
  • If warranted, Commentary, References and Links may be included.

Izhmash CM-2 on Gunbroker for what seems like a very good price ($325 buys it):

No relation to the seller, and I'm not taking it - I need a repeater (holding out for BB) - but I think someone will soon!

Except that someone has cut 5in off the barrel. No telling whether this was a competent gunsmith, or an idiot with a hacksaw.

Right!

Well then Peter, you did point me in the right direction! Thank you for that.

That's one honey of a rifle, just what I am looking for.

Unfortunately (for me) the direction is in the northern latitudes and just a few thousand miles east!

Anyone here have an import license for importing from the UK to US? I know it can be done; but I have no practical experience in this facet of acquiring an arm.

I have just recently done this, which I wouldn't go through the hassle again. Heck, it cost $300 just to ship it across across pond.

I know its not really a practical proposition to try arranging the import/export of firearms, I only posted the link to give you an idea of what is available, now and again, over here.

I did spot a Remmie 37 in a Yorkshire gunshop last summer and passed the contact details onto a Stateside RFCer and it is now over there.
I dont know what procedures were followed to accomplish this and I suspect that the UK dealer had experience of exporting firearms, which would have helped.

Tim, as to whether this rifle has had the barrel shortened or not, I would'nt know because I am not sufficiently "in the know" about these particular models.
One thing I do know for sure..............if this rifle had been dovetailed for a scope, it would have been in my gun safe by now, but I currently dont have the time to get involved in a "scoping project!"

Peter.

EDIT.............Hi Recko555 ................and there you have it.........import/export? A lot of hassle! Hell, its bad enough just trying to get a scope shipped sometimes.
