Well, if you have ~$1,000 burning a hole in your pocket and absolutely have to have a 7-2, they're in stock a few places now

Bud's has (3) Izhmash 7-2 22LR's in stock as of yesterday for $850 cash price. They have them listed under IZ143 but no pictures.
Not much cheaper than RWC but it looks like the 7-2's must be making it back into the US.

$13-15 for Hornady V-Max is the going rate. Lots of it out there at higher prices but that's just throwing money away

Is there anywhere to buy one of these rifles these days? Olympics gave me the Biathlon itch.

I'd prefer LR. Seems like even a few months ago they were around in the $400 range, not so much anymore

My LGS has several complete 60s vintage Vostok CM 2s. A couple are even 1st Generation CM-2s.

Most could use a little cosmetic TLC on the stocks but none are cracked that I have noticed. Most are priced at $350.00 but I suspect any could be taken home for less.

There are also several incomplete higher end Soviet match rifles (a MU-12-2 comes to mind) and CM-2s that are missing sights/buttplates, had Bubba Brit hack on the stocks, and have other general cosmetic issues but they would still be good hosts for putting a scope on them.

Lots of other vintage .22 match rifles there too. BSA, Anschutz, Walther, etc.

If you are close enough for a road trip the shop is called The Gun Shop and is located at 28 E. Jackson Street, Front Royal, Virginia. It's only open Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm.

Folks come from all over the US for the BSAs.

I don't work there but do hang out there on Saturday mornings and I know pretty much where everything is if you stop by.

Hey I'm new here and signed up cause is bought (and been shooting) a CZ 452 and fell in love with it. I recently shot my dads Vostok cm-2 and am HOOKED! I've been searching for one for a while now.

I'll give your gun shop a call.

Baikal MP161k Semi Auto Rifle .22 LR 19.5" Barrel 10 Rounds Synthetic Adj. Stock

Once I read our glorious leader put the pox on IZH/Baikal, a couple of days later I thought I'd take a look at what is out in internet land for sale.
Sheesh, they doubled!
Well there is another 22LR, which I saw when it first came out, which I liked.
The Baikal MP161k Semi Auto Rifle .22 LR 19.5" Barrel 10 Rounds Synthetic Stock Blue Finish, This has the hammer forged barrel, still made by same manufacturer, albeit probably not to same specs as their biathlon stuff, nonetheless, even my hammer forged barrel IZH 22pel rifle, out shoots my 2/3x expensive German stuff with almost any kind of pellets, vs My German stuff is strictly H&N Field Target Trophy 553mm dia.
This MP161k sports an adjustable trig, adjustable comb and stock length, weaver rail.
The more I thought about it...well you know how it is.
I started looking, best I can find is @ Cheaper than Dirt, free ship at least today for just under 313$, that's only about 20$ more than before. Beats the heck out of double the money for a straight pull bolt IZH and I've always like semi-auto better! Just a thought.
