Glenfield 25 to do list and pre-mod check

Ok, you guys got me hooked on the super sport idea.
While I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to use for my semi auto SS, I'll start with my bolt action.
Bone stock 1976 Glenfield 25

Not only will I update this post accordingly when I make modifications, but I'll also post my questions here about modss before I make them.

So, I will start with the first, I have a wiggly rear sight, with my eyes being as bad as they are, I won't replace them with stock, its either going to be scoped, or some sights with higher visibility. I'd rather NOT scope this one..
but anyway, are these allowed

ok,
so much for this thread, I don't have the glenfield anymore, my wife shot it today and decided she liked it better than her gun, so we traded. I think I can get her into the SS games, but this thread won't be necessary because the only thing she wants to change is to add a scope and maybe some carving on the stock. That will obviously keep it SS legit :]
guess I'll be shopping for something else for SS next month

I think she's going to shoot it here.
She won't let me trick it out though :[
I changed the trigger spring before she shot it, so she doesn't know, lol.
All she wants to do is scope it and MAYBE have me do some carving on it, cherry blossoms or celtic knots probably.
Other than that, she won't let me change anything on it, darn in, LOL

I know this is a quite old thread, but did you ever carve Celtic knots in your wife's Glenfield??? I made the "mistake" of letting my very Irish wife shoot my 780 and she fell in love with it. Later this year or early next, we will be likely doing a Revere Rider day. Wanted to do an Appleseed, however here in NJ that is an issue.

I would go look at the games list & see which ones would be fun with open sights. If it looks good then proceed. The sights you chose are quick to use & very visible, but might be less than expected for fine target work. FIRST GO HERE. See the pic top left? I have those for casual pistol shooting, (the difference is amazing) but I think they may work for a rifle with a barrel mounted rear sight. You could call & ask. I'll look for mine and try them with a rifle with stock sights like yours.
Not going with a scope is fun but narrows options. When I used to compete decades ago I used aperture (peep) sights, front & rear. Not as good as a scope but I surprised a lot of people when they tried them.
Like others mentioned I'd clean it then look into trigger work & experiment with bedding.
HOLY CRAP! I just realized this post is like six years old & the rifle is long gone! I need to pay frikin' attention! Sorry, senior moment.
