Seriously though, uh... I would be willing to guess that, judging by the nature of the flaw and subsequent fix, your issue won't be solved by this mod - but it couldn't hurt to try.
There's no problems with any .22 ammo out of any stock 10/22...it's when you swap barrels for a tighter chambered aftermarket model, the case length on Stingers is too long to properly seat and can cause issues...Velocitors are of standard length, just a little more bang for the critters...It can't hurt to try your method for the helluvit though!

After doing this mod, now my Federal bulk 550 ammo will feed right! THANKS BUCK!!!!!!!!!
My BX-25 had the round below the lips from the start. Now the top round sticks up like it should!!! Love the idea of using a spent case!!! I'll be sure to pass this on to any others using BX-25s!

Thanks for the tip. Been having the exact same problem with my only BX-25. Been searching for a fix or a post with the problem. I'll need to try it.

Will doing this to a bx-25 that doesn't jam do any good? Just like buying insurance?

Haven't you learned anything here yet? If it aint broke, add a bunch of aftermarket parts to it and see if you CAN break itright?

I just did this fix to my BX-25 to solve some really crazy feed issues. Blew thru 2 mags with narry a hitch. Good enough test for me since it wouldn't feed but 2 or 3 rounds without a malfunction before.

Thanks Buck, figured it was worth a bump back to the top to help others with these issues.

Forum moderators,

I think we ought to make a sticky of buck's posts.

I just modded 4 of my BX-25 mags and can't wait to try them out.

Thanks for the great work, buck !

Great pics btw !

I had posted this fix on a Ruger forum and some people still reported problems after using it.

Strangely it seems some people end up with magazines that have varying amounts of slop in the axle/bushing. Some have some that are so tight you couldn't put the .22 casing in it even if you tried, others have ones that are so sloppy that even the .22 shell won't work.

For the majority, however, it seems like the fix does work. Carry on!

And I, unfortunately, am one of those folks. I've tried every fix I can find, here, there, and everywhere.

I can get the magazines to work briefly, but, then... flat rounds. Tear down, clean like mad, lightly lube w/dry lube, and they'll feed fine for a few days. Strangely, it seems that time is more of an element than rounds fired, as the mags would absolutely not work after a few months sitting idle after being cleaned (not loaded).

The one mod I haven't tried is the replacement spring from Zipguns. Anyone with experience?

Has anyone called Ruger to see if they will warranty them?

4 of my 9 BX25's have this fix and have worked for a while, but one seems like it is barely holding on (bullet isn't as nose-up as the others).
