Think you might be right, posting pics of the stamps on my 44 US (a) for reference. The barrel stamp looks 'correct' even though it's not in the same place as on my 44 US. The receiver stamps are another story though. The "U.S. Property" and "Ser. No" look the same as on my 44 US, but the number itself seems to be from two different and non-aligned dies, the whole group is angled up into the 'Property' stamp. Sure wish I knew what that second digit was.

44 US stamps for comparison, the SN stamp shows some of the same misalignment, but not the angle.

I have and will highlight certain points for verification/clarification. Please check and confirm/correct in a new post or by PM to me if you see red highlighting by your rifles serial number so we can get correct info.

Remember that the end result of compiling this information is only as good as the information provided.

Also, as a gentle suggestion, it will be much easier to transfer information into a single post if the format is followed. Tonight's updating/compiling took a bit of time to re-format. Thank you!

Wasn't the barrel diameter at the muzzle, and if were straight or tapered, to have been a portion of the information listed, or was that just for the 144US series?
James

Who posted 117865 with the Walnut stock and Ordnance Cartouche? It sure would be worth a few pictures as it's the only Walnut stock example posted + it has the cartouche. Regards, Rick.
