From the way I read the rules it 4 groups of 5 shots, and that's all your allowed per target. Those 4 groups are then averaged to give you your total.

I hate you guys, I'm gonna have to go by the VQ hammer now to try and compete with ya'll...

Here's hoping the weather clears so I can make it out to the range this weekend.

You could go 25 yds and shoot prone off the roof of the car.

I ended up using some old Remington Target ammo that had not been very good in the past. This time around it was decent, but I still missed the goal I guess.
I bought some more ammo this morning so will be trying some more soon!

Only 4 groups per target Walt. Good luck and thanks for saying hi and posting your close call.
For those of us with average barrels the higher priced ammo will sometimes do the trick.

Hey, this is a very serious forum and teasing us poor folks living in igloos is out of order. I'm not as bad as Chris' pic but the 2'+ of snow here kinda puts the kibosh on any shooting. It used to be we could shoot down old back roads but with snowmobilers everywhere its not a good idea anymore. Cold weather doesn't do much for ammo performance either.

I could count on one hand how many times I've seen snow. It happens so seldom, that schools ( and businesses too) will stop so everyone can go outside! There's a small chance of flurries tonight.

I bought 7 different types of ammo, mostly standard velocity stuff, so I am hoping to get lucky next time. Also found another box of the Remington Target stuff. I made up a bunch of copies of the targets as outlined here, so we will see.....

Can we enter twice? It was 35*F out this morning and I had to scrape ice off
the benches. The wind was suck also. But, I don't know the next chance I'll get
soooo my entry, .59525 at 25 yards....

FWIW, I had 4 guns with me, did a scope shuffle and new scope for a silhouette match next week, all 4 shot horribly.
I assume either they or me don't like the cold....

597,sporter barrel, worked trigger and bolt, laminate stock, Barska 4X16X50 scope.

When this weeks blizzard subsides I'll head for the range on my dogsled to shoot a few groups, should be easy with Tenex to get in the club!

When are ya'll calling the "challenge" over?

Darndest thing was the SV ammo I shot today, Eley sport, club, Wolf MT, CCI SV all shot odd, they all had fliers, the only HV ammo I shot today was CCI blazer and it shot fairly well/consistant.

I was at the range for over 5 hours today and went through over a brick of ammo. The conditions sucked, temp and wind but you go shoot when you can go shoot....

It's not a challenge against each other, it's a challenge for you and your 597. It's all for fun, and was never devised to be a competition.
