Its three layers. Walnut surrounding a full one inch slab of what we refer to here in South-Central Kentucky as a "soft" maple. I probably should have planed down the maple more before gluing the walnut to it, to preserve more walnut, but it turned out ok. That's a rosewood grip cap btw.

my grooved 511, kinda purty stock on it


my ungrooved 511 I use for hunting this is about the only .22 I'll carry for hunting

Not very attractive (only a face a mother could love....). My Hart barrelled, 722 based 40-x.

Here is the first rifle I ever reblued. It was done about 20 years ago. I picked it up for $10 and was told that I paid too much for it, becauste it was in really bad shape.
