I'm with you on that one! It is almost impossible to measure the shots in the black sometimes. I know the guys shooting open sights are going to need the black though.

So here is a gray one for scopes and our one good eye. Arrrrrrg.

Trent, i believe this is the 1st kind of this game, and am curious as to who
will be participating, as there are those that firmly believe in their own
minds eye that off-hand shooting is the ONLY way to go to test ones skills,
never mind the bench and bags thingee.

Rico....
Rico, I'm sad that you won't be able to partake in this game. If you change your mind about using a device that would allow you to shoot offhand your submissions will always be welcome! I know it would be real tough for you though.

I was pretty surprised to find that a game like this hadn't been started up in the SS/A forum. I don't play over there since my Remmy 597 has a barrel that is above the allowable diameter. I have an old Mossberg semi, but I haven't gotten it functioning reliably yet.

I'm excited to see this get going!

(If anyone wants to start an offhand game in the SS/A forum, feel free to use any information from this game you see fit and roll with it!)

thanks, Trent,

but there are a "few" things i am not able do do. like sticking an ear plug
into my left ear with my lefty, or trust my lefty to hold a cup of hot coffee,
or putting on a cap, ever tried changing a spark plug one-handed? lol,
the list goes on, but you all get the idea. i just adapt the best i can, so,
as much as i love to shoot, i am "confined" to the bench, not a biggie,
and is why my preference is semi-autos, tho' i do have two "crankers",
go figure, lol, which take 2X as long to get off a shot and a lot of exertion,

as mentioned, will watch this game with much interest, hope it goes good,

Rico....

I was going to post something about pirates and a hook... but I think I will go without since I am not fully aware of Rico's situation and can see it being quite possibly offensive.

I'll try and get some submissions for this game, but I am not sure I will be shooting again before I leave for Korea. I'm sure the 36x off-hand would make this very interesting!

I wish I had a real answer to help your situation, but all I had was an attempt at some pirate humor. Since it seems its not going to offend you, this is what I was thinking:

I was going to suggest replacing the front sling stud with an eyelet like this one

Then even a pirate with one of these guys could participate in offhand shooting!

Rico - I just want you to know that I have posted you as our first qualifier. I created a class just for you, and only you! (Lord knows that you'd spank our averages in this game if you could)

It is a pleasure having you on board sir!

I've been doing some offhand rifle shooting practice (for the upcoming match), and I've found that (at least for me) 10x is where I like to set the scope for that. Anything higher and every movement, heartbeat, jitter, etc. in your hold is magnified to the point of making your sight picture too shaky to aim well. I know we all like to have the scope cranked up to maximum for bench shooting, but do some experimenting, unless you're really good at it, I think you'll find a medium-ish magnification better for the offhand position.

Unfortunately the scope on the Biathlon Basic is non-adjustable magnification. I may have to try taking the APV off the 10/17hm2 to put on the Biathlon for this one.

Yup speed, you got it right that's for sure. This game is perfect for all those hunting rifles with the 3-9 power scopes on them.

Ok... I'm out of beer... must be time for bed.
