My first 10/22, about 1980, was a carbine with the dull walnut stained birch stock. I sanded the walnut off, and finished with a coat of clear matte poly. I thought the honest birch looked much better than fake walnut.

Not me. I have walked away from many a rifle because of the blondie, birchy, beechy wood.

Those I do own are in spite of and not because of.

I'd show off my figured 12 ga. SKB O/U blondie but the only pix include some dead grouse. Other than an RWS pellet rifle they're the only 2.

When CMP was selling 82Gs, I got one. Wish Id asked for a blondie. I did see a few that fellows received from them.
