Here is a couple of nice curly maple Brownings. One is a .22 and the other is a .17 HMR.

Nice blonds.

I prefer the SA-22. My favorite semi auto 22 rifle.

I'm building a fiddleback maple stock for the 40X sporter I'm putting together. Should be done any day now.... love the color and figure of good maple, but I also love good quality walnut, so it's a tough call sometimes...

I prefer lighter color in females, but darker colors on gun stocks.

Curley light woods done up in the traditional way of the American Longrifle are a joy to behold for me. Aint 'blond' but aint dark walnut either. I aint been able to warm up to a really blond stock. Even my Martini Int. MkIII with light French Walnut just doesnt appeal to my eye so much.
But I do admit those are nice pieces of wood!

i have had a number and only have one left - its a trap gun tho , but it was once a 22 around the turn of the century - not the last , the one before that , bonehill converted miniature , after serving as a military rifle from 1888 in a large bore ,

I have been known to be partial to the natural color of wood!

I completely forgot about handguns, I do have several with light colored grips on the dark blue. My fav is a tight birdseye maple on a Ruger 50th Aniv. 357Mag New Model Blackhawk. For SS I like dark grips. Guess I like contrast.
