More Redfield Sight Photos

Photo of the Redfield 75 Sight,
- then the International,
- then the two screws for the mount. Smaller, for the 75, is 8-40. Larger, for the Olympic/International/Palma is 10-32.
- 4th photo is a 75 and International together showing the back sides. Note that the groove on the 75 doesn't go all the way through.
- Last photo is a Redfield Palma with Merit adjustable rear aperture.

Does the 75 fit the dovetail just not go far enough foreword to line up the hole in base with the screw? If so, the base could maybe be drilled/tapped at as far as it goes for the 8-40 to be able to use the 75 until the 'right' sight shows up.
Btw, Ive found it better to modify the cheapest/most easily replaced part (in this case, the base rather than the sight).

From what I've read (never had to try it) one of the accepted ways to allow a 75 to fit on an Olympic/International/Palma mount is to drill and then tap 8-40 a new hole in the mount between the two rearward 10-32 holes. The new hole must be drilled at that location because the incomplete grove on the 75 sight would not allow it to be slid forward and fit if the hole was drilled between the two forward holes or the center.

The other accepted way to make it fit has already been talked about: Ream the 8-40 hole in the SIGHT to allow a 10-32 screw to tighten it to the mount.
