Overall, what is the absolute best SV 22lr ammo I can buy?

Yeah, yeah. Varies from one gun to the next, blah, blah.
But, overall who consistently has better quality, and consistency?

I'm perfectly content paying $15 for a box of 50.
I wont be using this for plinking. It will be for squirrel hunting only. I'll gladly pay the extra $, and have less chance of a flyer, than spend $4 a box on something that is responsible for a miss.
I myself don't understand the want to save $ on ammo, unless you're just popping away at cans. The "pretty good" ammo has no place tor me. I either want pure junk, that cycles, or I want the absolute best there is. Nothing in between.
Especially since one box of 50 will get me through an entire squirrel season.

Fwiw, CCI Sv, and Aquila Pistol shoot allright, but are too inconsistent.
Norma Tac 22 has proved the best, but I haven't ventured into the high end Lapua stuff.
I get that what is good for you may not work for me. But give me a jumping off point, and some suggestions to experiment with.

Oh, Cz455

I have not used any of the really expensive stuff but i have had very good luck with SK pistol match in every gun i have shot it in. Very consistent and accurate. I know alot of other people have used it with good results as well.

try some sk ammo. lapua center-x also. look up "good shooting" to see the different sk ammo. most sk is in the $5 to $8 range. center-x is $10.50. the pistol match does shoot very good in a rifle. dave

If I want to get right to business, it's Tenex. Away from the range, the vagaries of field conditions mean you are unlikely to be able to take full advantage of the top drawer stuff. For a SV hunting round, I reach either for SK or Eley SVHPs. I'm still trying to be impressed with RWS SVHP

I have a case lot of Lapua Midas I' had been using for benchrest matches, When I bought it I tested four lots and all four were very good lots but the one I bought was a bit better. I now use that lot for Prairie Dog hunting in my 10/22.

Aguila HV 40 gr. copper plated round nose works really well in my CZ455 and is not expensive. I would think it's a great round for squirrel hunting. They also make a 38 gr. hollow point version, but I have not tried it yet.

You'll have to ask your guns that one. Only they know what they like best.

For probably the "best" 22lr, check out today's post in "22lr ammo on sale".

Lapua Midas plus for me
Out of my old 54 off a rest I would think I could do a head shot at 75 yards and feel 95 percent I could do it every time

I tried a brick of SK Pistol Match and Pistol Match special. I was underwhelmed.

I have several cases of Eley Force that out shoots the SK.
