That ends in #17 is COOL Clean the bore and action, Hornady One Shot dry lube the action.. run dry patches or Worm thru the bore to finish.. Get optics on it and get to the range.. PRONTO then RANGE REPORT.

Most all the rar have a realitivly smooth action with a slight corduroy feel. It's by design.

Got mine in yesterday. Even with the adjustable trigger I could only get it down to 3.5lbs. After removing that adjustment spring it breaks consistently at a little over 1lb. Range report hopefully tomorrow.

You want a 1# trigger on a hunting gun? What magnification are you guys going to use? For me its up between a 3-12 or 4-16. Leaning towards the 4-16. I like 9 min at 50 yrds so don't think 12 will feel like enough at 100.

i have never even held one of these rifles. how well are these shooting? seems like a good price, but i'm also considering a savage a17 hm2. does anyone have a comparison? i don't like plastic stocks, that's the drawback on both rifles.

The magazine alone makes me choose Ruger over Savage, stocks are an easy swap on both.

"The magazine alone makes me choose Ruger over Savage" +1 to that. Ruger American is a solid design and as a locked breech rifle should work great with the Mach 2. While savage may have worked out the bugs for a semi auto mack 2 they are UGLY and I just like Rugers better. It would be nice if ruger would bring back the mach 2 as a regular catalog item with different variations like they offer for the 17 hmr. California is ripe for sales with the lead free 22 long rifle being a terrible option for hunting. People that were not wanting to change from their 22 LR might find the lead ban a big push for a new rifle that actually can hold a group with lead free ammo. rc

Couldn't stand to wait on range reports, I just placed my order (153 remaining). Now to decided on which optic to top it with.

I just wrote a range report for a new go wild camo 17 hmr in the American forum. I think you are going to be fine with the accuracy and won't have the sticking case problems that plague the 17hmr series. My 17hmr predator is very accurate. Ruger has the barrel making process down for the 17 caliber rifles. I am looking forward to the range review on the HM2 Predator. I don't really need one, but I am so tempted!

It begs to be sent to Randy, plus the spring removal trigger job, which someone mentioned above. At least, the tinkerer in me thinks so... I’m so tempted but really don’t need fifth 17hm2. Or do I...
