Likewise, thanks for the tip.

This seems like a nice addition and/or could be a nice base package to build into a custom 10/22.

QUESTION: Generally, how accurate are these carbines stock out of the box with perhaps a little trigger work or replacement? I guess I'm asking about the accuracy of the barrels, action, etc.

Thanks

Is anyone familiar with this model?

I am assuming that the "factory installed" 3/8"/Weaver accessory rail mounts with two screws to the receiver and can be removed.

I am also assuming that this model has the same barrel as other carbine models, just no dovetail cuts for sights and no sights.

Can anyone confirm this?

Black Friday will be here soon. I usually pick up a standard wood stock 10/22 for about $169-$180 during those times. Patience..........

Thanks RR, and a question.

Assuming someone were to buy one of these base model carbine 10/22's to use as the foundation for a custom build, is there any resale market for the stock and/ or barrel or is the price it will bring worth less than the effort to sell it?

those parts won't bring a lot on the used parts market, but it's always a good idea to have some stock parts on hand when you start modding these things...they can come in handy if you have to start swapping parts around for trouble shooting purposes

I don't think that carbine stocks and barrels are worth keeping and that it isn't worth the effort to advertise and ship them, so I either give them away locally or throw them away.

I don't know how accurate any Ruger 10/22s are straight out of the box.

I almost always replace the stocks, triggers, and barrels with after-market parts.

I would only not replace the triggers and barrels if I was going to send the barreled action to CPC.

Bass Pro shops have this carbine on sale for the same price.

Yesterday, I drove over to the Clarksville, IN Bass Pro shop and bought one. It was closer to me than the Cabela's in Noblesille, IN. I had called in the morning to confirm that they had them available

When I got there, the guy at the firearms desk was not the guy I had talked to. I told him I was there to look at a Ruger 10/22 and he acted as if he had never heard of such a thing. I explained that it was one of the two most popular 22LR semi-auto rifles ever produced, but that did not help.

He then told me that the guy I had talked to in the morning would be back tomorrow (today) I told him I had just driven 100+ miles to look at it. I then had to search the racks of rifles on display to find the Ruger 10/22s, then point out the model I was interested in.

Well, the fellow was pleasant enough but ????

I hope to shoot the carbine later today or tomorrow. It has the same Ruger accessory rail that comes with most 10/22 carbines, only it is already screwed onto the receiver. The light colored stock will be more pleasant to use than a black one for summer Appleseed events where the rifle has to be left on the firing line lying in the direct sun.

The barrel appears to be the regular 18.5" carbine taper barrel, just with no sight dovetails cut in. That is fine with me since I find the stock 10/22 sights to be pretty much unusable and I already have another carbine with Tech Sights mounted. This one will wear a scope permanently.

Every time I get disappointed with Cabellas , I go over to Bass Pro just to remind myself that it can be worse!

They now have moved the Vacation Scam counter from Bass Pro to Cabellas. This should be interesting.

But I do like their restaurant and Aquarium a lot better. And their shoes are better priced. But the gun counter, donít make me laugh

Cabela's has been going downhill ever since BPS bought them. Before much longer you won't be able to tell one from the other. The only difference between them seems to be that Cabela's sells used firearms and BPS only sells new firearms.
