I purchased a Keystone model 722 Varmint last year. Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with different types of ammo and results. Participated in a 100 yard match using Federal auto match ammo. Did ok with best groups around 3 inches. With only a 9x scope the crosshairs covered the X ring. I love the rifle. Nice trigger. Hoping to improve groups with better ammo. Any help out there?

Just general recommendations.

Buy CCI SV, or better ammo . All SV .

If reticle covers target, then use the corner of the cross hairs to zero. Ie poi should not be at the center, but just left and up. So you can see the x ring.

That gun sb be shooting 1 MOA at 100 yards not 3. But better ammo , and seeing the x ring should get you there.

Good luck, and have fun.

Ps I shoot at 50 yards , cause I canít hit squat at 100

I have the Keystone 722PT. I get about 1.5 inches with CCI STD at 100 yards. Maybe a better marksman or using a really solid rest (I used a Caldwell bag) could tighten it up a little bit more.

I tried Federal Gold Target standard velocity also. The groups opened up just under 2 inches at 100 yards.

I have only about 200 rounds through this rifle so it is quite new. It might settle down a bit more.

One more note of interest. I screwed my suppressor on and tested with both brands also. The groups opened up to 2.5 to 3. It was a Ruger Silent SR.

Can anyone advise if the rear iron sight (on the the 722 versions that have them) are seating in a standard dovetail ? Also, does the Keystone picatinney that they sell for this rifle allow or obstruct view of the iron sights? I'd like to use a picatinney & quick release Warne rings so I can shoot irons or scope. Also, any comments or observations on the 722 Sporter or Classic would be appreciated. Thanks !!
